i saw this on the ExtremeSportVeko website...

Asphalt boarding has never been more popular. A total of eighty athletes wanted to compete in the longboard competition this year.
Unfortunately there were only 64 spots available. But the guys in their black leather suits were more than happy to see so many eager contestants. Cedric Cornell has been skating since he was eleven years old. Now he’s 43 and still…

like a fine curry, skateboard races seem to be better the second time around.
nestled in the picturesque Kangaroo valley region, tucked away from the hustle and bustle lies a patch of butter-smooth road with a decent downhill gradient that weaves and winds it's way down to a ridiculous hairpin and then on to a free campsite, could there be a better spot for an outlaw!
i was planning to leave canberra early, get up to the…

I had heard about Melton for a few years and seen a few photos in the mainstream mags. But they still gave me no clear impression of what awaited us upon our arrival there. I googled "Melton" for a better idea. While the first result was uninteresting, the second result was more promising. It was a link to Melton International Tackle - the ultimate in big-game tackle & accessories. Hmmm, could this have…

The second Noosa Hill Climb social event/freeride was on!

The week leading up to this amazing event was glorious sunshine all week on the Sunshine Coast, living up to its name. However on Thursday and Friday rain and dark threatening clouds were putting the charity event on edge. Everyone was waiting for an official call.
Race day morning and there wasn't a cloud in the sky! Let's race! Was announced…

I arrived on the hill around 9am to be greeted by light showers and a freezing wind. The road in question is a narrow, rough, bumpy and steep run starting from a Wind Turbine and running for about 1.5kms to the finish line. The road surface was wet from morning showers and had the traction of wax polished ice. My first attempt down to negotiate the big lefty, i predrifted about 20 meters before the corner and continue to slide through the…

I can't believe the weekend is over. I'm sitting here typing trying to keep my eyes open. I'm pooped. I've got the matchsticks out to hold up my eyelids. So please pardon any spelllling mistaykes... Anyhoot, what a weekend. Yesterday we ran the Super Giant Slalom for the second time - the fastest slalom race in the world. We had a big field, 28 racers, and everyone charged hard. For some people it was their first…

Welcome to Mt Stuart! If you weren't here, well, you missed something special. It was nuts. In fact, it was so nuts my first run my gonads were firmly planted in my neck. It took a quick visit to the first aid tent and a friendly hand from from a friendly local to massage my babies back down to their normal spot well below my belly button. Thanks friendly local! You saved my last name from extinction.…

Early morning skating... I was out for a pre-dawn roll when I ran into a raving party animal on his way back from the backpacker-filled and rum-fuelled nightclubs. Never caught his name, but did catch a few ghostly images of him rolling through the Townsville darkness.

Local rippers - Sean and Kelleigh, and some old farts...
It’s a little known fact that in 1979 James Hetfield of Metallica fame visited Townsville. It’s also a little known fact that before Metallica Hetfield was a guitarist in a Bee Gees cover band. He was a disco freak, all Abba and glammed to the hilt. Anyways, whilst in town(sville), Hetfield went for a stroll along the Ross River. He sat on the grass…

Jackson Shapiera:
The first time i visited adelaide was in 2008, i went down to check out the scene and ride some of the hills they had down there. What i did not expect to find was a landscape filled with so many hills of all different types, all quiet with barely any traffic and just begging to be painted with lines of urethane. There was so much potential for downhill skateboarding in this city that i made it my goal to keep…
