I went to one of the best events of the year yesterday - BOWL-A-RAMA 2012, the annual bowl-riding competition at Bondi beach. It doesn't get much better than this, sunny n hot, the beach and crystal blue ocean on one side, the bowl and some ridiculously good skating on the other side. Either way you look, life's freakin great.
I love going to the BOWL-A-RAMA. It's a good opportunity to…Click here for the full story
Another terrific Newton's Nation IGSA World Cup Race under the belt! This year was by far the best racing we've seen at Mount Panorama in the three years the event has been held. It was the richest race ever and for that a special thanks go out to our awesome sponsors. Without their very substantial financial contributions we would be unable to organise an event of this scale.
So... people have been asking. How was your skate trip to Canberra? Was it fun? Was it horrible?
And, depending on my mood at any particular time, I have replied in any number of ways:
- It was awesome. - It sucked rotten eggs. - I felt like a superhero - Next time I’m doing it on a motorised skateboard.
- There’s nothing like the sensation of a semi-trailer passing you going 120k at 8am to wake you up.
- It was great except I…
On Monday 6 September ASRA old-timers Trav and Haggy will be setting out on their first long-distance sojourn.
The goal - Sydney to Canberra!
How many pushes do people think it will take to get to Canberra? Ten thousand, Fifty thousand? I really have no clue. And I won't be keeping track, so it will…Click here for the full story
I had heard about Melton for a few years and seen a few photos in the mainstream mags. But they still gave me no clear impression of what awaited us upon our arrival there. I googled "Melton" for a better idea. While the first result was uninteresting, the second result was more promising. It was a link to Melton International Tackle - the ultimate in big-game tackle & accessories. Hmmm, could this have…Click here for the full story
I can't believe the weekend is over. I'm sitting here typing trying to keep my eyes open. I'm pooped. I've got the matchsticks out to hold up my eyelids. So please pardon any spelllling mistaykes... Anyhoot, what a weekend. Yesterday we ran the Super Giant Slalom for the second time - the fastest slalom race in the world. We had a big field, 28 racers, and everyone charged hard. For some people it was their first…Click here for the full story
Welcome to Mt Stuart! If you weren't here, well, you missed something special. It was nuts. In fact, it was so nuts my first run my gonads were firmly planted in my neck. It took a quick visit to the first aid tent and a friendly hand from from a friendly local to massage my babies back down to their normal spot well below my belly button. Thanks friendly local! You saved my last name from extinction.…
Early morning skating... I was out for a pre-dawn roll when I ran into a raving party animal on his way back from the backpacker-filled and rum-fuelled nightclubs. Never caught his name, but did catch a few ghostly images of him rolling through the Townsville darkness.
The Night Rider - coming to party at a hill near you...!…
Local rippers - Sean and Kelleigh, and some old farts...
It’s a little known fact that in 1979 James Hetfield of Metallica fame visited Townsville. It’s also a little known fact that before Metallica Hetfield was a guitarist in a Bee Gees cover band. He was a disco freak, all Abba and glammed to the hilt. Anyways, whilst in town(sville), Hetfield went for a stroll along the Ross River. He sat on the grass…Click here for the full story
So here we are. The week of Beat the Bastard. No, this event is not about beating up on an unwanted child. Au contraire, mon frères! This event is all about beating an unwanted and terrible illness – cancer. And in the process going fast downhill with a bunch of mad bastards!
