Hey fellow skate fiends!
This is a belated welcome-to-2009 message but better late than never.
We've got an exciting year ahead of us. Check out the Events calendar for the year's program. Not only is the 2009 Conehead Cup up and running, with our first event in March in NACCOSIA,
but we've already had one hugely successful event - the Master of the Hill
. Coming up in May is "Beat the Bastard"
a two-day freeride on the legendary Mt. Stuart hosted by our friends in Townsville. The event will also host Round II of the Conehead Cup in what promises to be a gnarly SuperGS course. Don’t' miss it, it will be awesome!
After a very successful first year event in 2008, Newton's Games
will be back in November 2009 at Mt. Panorama in Bathurst, NSW. If you weren't there last year, make sure you are this year. This place is off the hook. With the IGSA World Championships being held at Newton's Games this year the event will see all the world's best riders coming out to compete for the title and challenge themselves on what is one of the fastest and most exciting tracks on the IGSA circuit.
On the ASRA admin front, we are finalising discussions to get an annual insurance policy in place. This will enable us to provide insurance to event organisers around the country at a cheaper rate than they can get on their own. No more being stumped when the Council asks "Do you have public liability insurance?" We will let you all know when we have this sorted out.
We also hope to get a database up soon to help race organisers with various documentation used in putting on events. Obviously any input from those of you out there organising events would be helpful.
2009 will be a great year for racing in Australia. In addition to established riders still getting out there and pushing the limits there are a lot of new faces popping up.
There is a lot of soulful freeriding going on all over the country and that is something ASRA will always support. Whether you're cruising to the shops or gunning for the podium - do it with style!
See you on the hill...
