If you know where to shop you can get a pair of kevlar jeans for 90 which hold up pretty good. If there is an AMX in your state go check them out, you will be able to get a full face and some kevlar's for 160ish. I put my knee pads over the kevlars cos i have bad knees but the jeans do have padding in them too
Ebay is pretty good too. I just picked up a pair of "Mars" padded lined leather pants for the kneeboard for $51.00, which included postage from Melbourne to Qld. Have seen suitable leather jackets in Cashies for as little as $50.00. May not get through a full blown Tech Inspection, but having a full face and good pads, and the possibilities of getting some cheap leathers you got some good "start out" options.
double denim works as well
Im not having that much luck on ebay :(

You need to keep looking on ebay for a good month i would say and with all the cheap ones under 100 click watch item and keep an eye on them, yeah alex a guy we have skated with picked up some for $35 1pc suit no joke and picked up casey stoners old leathers for a little under 200 or something ridiculous.
These puppies are cheaper than a good set of knee pads

SPIDI Racing Two Piece Race Leather Suit 38 48 Red

$50 - 6hrs to go

Size 48-58 Technic 1 piece suit

$100 - 50mins to go

48US or 58EURO almost always means size large so 5'9"- 6'1" 75-90kgs. If they don't fit they are always easy to re-sell on ASRA
the white yellow and black ones are well proven, yates had thrashed his, now they are saving owens skin
Not the kind of sport you wanna be skimpy with.

I hear lawn bowles is a relatively cheap sport to play
lawn BOWLS rather. If you have lawn in your bowles seek medical advice straight away!
I have a small one piece leater siut that im willing to part with for $100 fit someone bout 5 foot nothing and 70-75 kg

Good pads and gloves are the best thing for entry level.

Elbow pads like these are sometimes available on ebay.
3x velcro straps keep them on and forearm protection means better coverage.
Regular pads get ripped straight off at speed and offer little.

Good crash shorts go well also. Your hips and thighs will cop alot.

These cost more but the savings you make in skin are priceless.

These are just a few suggestions to get you started instead of skating and hurting yourself wearing nothing in a bid to save for expensive leathers.

Practice braking and sliding before you practice going fast.
Once you become the master of control you'll be a pro.
