dh
you just need to chose mate, crusing or dh.but i still cruise around on my omni 43 drop.
try out the boards first it will help
why dont you get a "freeride" board? do a little bit of both. landyatchz switch? comet fsm?
get a sector 9 bombhills and chop it down to a 29" wheelbase. one of the sickest rides around
The Evo is a big tank that doesn't make a good freeride board and the Dervish is too flexy to feel good at serious downhill. Why not get something in between? There's plenty of downhill decks that are smaller, lighter, and less aggressively wedged than and Evo - they'll be just as good at downhill, but can also double as a freeride/cruiser deck.
any other boards i should have a look at?
Go local with an FSU or Glyde, then its all up to your bushings and more practice.
well, my opinion is very much biest due to the fact that i own a dervish and LOVE it...... the fact is quite simple, there different boards and were the other lacks in performance one succeeds.

ur gonna have to decide DH EVO or Cruising DERVISH
This is like asking, "should I buy a car or a razor scooter". It's a really stupid question and deserves a really stupid answer.

Buy a duck. There we go.
personally i would say neither out of that list, if you want to go half way, Omni drop 43, Landy chinook (if you want the brand name) or any other still landy twin tip
Well said Dani, totally different boards.

Dervish is one of the best carvers, Evo is one of the best DHers.

Maybe get something more inbetween, like Merrick, I have the Hellcat oh nine. Love it. It can certainly turn hard, it's stable and it's good for slides (better than my old one).

Or go for a OMNI DH or something, they're cheap and really good.

Hi Jack
Choosing between those two boards, I would definitely go with the Dervish. You'll build your skills heaps more and soon feel comfortable riding the board in any situation even a bit of DH. Then after a while when you really want to go fast, get a DH deck and you'll find it a lot easier to jump on and hit some massive hills. If you can learn to feel at one with a dervish, a flexi/carving board, then it'll be a piece of cake when you get on a stiff/stable DH board.

I have a dervish and use it for everything - sliding, carving, cruising, and DH up to about 75km/h. Had that for a year, now looking at getting a DH board to go extra fast.
