righto bro... yeah I still haven't touched the stick on mount, it's really good sticky stuff but i prefer nuts and bolts prob like you... For the surfing, i bought the surf hero and it comes with an FCS (Fin Control System) mount, (it's male) this is exactly the same as an FCS fin that mounts under a board. I went to my local shaper and asked him to put FCS plugs in the front and rear of my board on the deck ($20 a pop and I aligned it to where i needed it first and drew the marks on the deck for him). He then set the 2 plugs (female) on my deck and the rest is history. The camera now fits snug into the mounts, sturdy as, and one little grub screw holds it firm in place. Definitely attach a float to the camera via the black string or somehow to the back of the camera housing itself as the camera sinks. Should the camera be hit and the plugs snap out the camera will float and you can retrieve it. If not it sinks and you get nada lol... good luck!
