The Lengths we go for gear

Whats the greatest length you've gone to get ur hands on a piece of skateboarding equipment?
Personally I go hungry everyday at school so that I save my lunch money enough for some precision trucks, people want to share their stories?

Well right now i'm in the process of purchasing a cheap one piece ($70) from this guy on ebay. Problem is, he doesn't speak english very well and he's overseas at the moment so I have to arrange a courier to pick up the suit from his place. Since he's overseas I have to deal with his wife who doesn't speak english at all, so I have to tell him the details and he then relays it to his wife, making this process alot slower than it should be.

So after numerous exchanges of messages on ebay regarding the the details (size/ weight of box, when the wife will be home so that the courier can pick the box up) the courier was booked, and i sent the wife a form which needs to be put on the box, and i thought all was settled. Now i just got a message from him asking about the what responsibility his wife takes seeing the fact that her name is on the form and for some reason he thinks she needs signs the form. So i have to send yet another message to him reassuring him that his wife doesn't need to sign anything and she is not responsible for anything, her name is on the form just a reference.

Phew, thanks for listening, the lengths I go for cheap gear, lesson learned? Never purchase anything when there's a language barrier between you and the seller.

Spent 2 years asking Ado to sell me his Wefunk topbone, than I think I just got him at a vulnerable time once and he said yes. Ado also spent a similar time trying to get some Magun trucks which are very hard to get. Finally he tracked the guy down who said he would only make some if Ado bought the whole lot minimum run 12 lots, after 2 years Ado didn't have to think twice. If you want a rare highly stable ultra premium race truck call Ado, these are not like smokies you won't see another buddy riding with them.

Going hungry to save for gear. Dont worry it gets better as you get older. Problem is when you can now afford it, finding the time to use it with kids, work, and aches and pains.
Getting (most) gear is realy easy now. I remember back in the early 80s looking for a board in Canberra. Months of paper runs, hours on busses, and only 2 types of boards for sale in all of Canberra. Soon after Surf scene opened and they were the only shop. Now with the internet and local shops all over the place and some spare change in general it has never been easier.
When i was a kid we had to walk 50 miles to get to the skate shop. By the time we got there it was shut and had to walk home!

my parents decided that i cudnt have any more skaties so i had to hide a speedboard in my room somewhere (i swear theres nothing that can hide a complete) and sell 3 homemades before i could even get them to think about me buying(using without sneaking around) the board.
i've had my job for ages and havent had anything to spend it on till skating so i always end up wanting to get new stuff....

Toby to key is to accumulate enough boards to achieve a critical mass of skate stuff. For people that aren't into skate stuff it all begins to look the same. When your parents see a new setup and say is that a new board you just say I've had it for 8 months I can't believe you pay such little attention to my life. You just keep buying new shit and always give the same response. They walk away feeling like they haven't been paying enough attention to their children and you go and skate on your shinny new wheels.

That's how I do it with my girlfriend... and you should see my collection!

that is a good idea and i think if i put alll of them on a rack it will work
but i swear they know to much about the boards i have, my dad notices wen i change trucks:( ahh well i'll keep buyin and they can keep threatening to chuck them out,
