Whats the go with the build off Dylan, any hints?
Thanks I'll give it a go by hand then and will tell you how it turns out.
Just take it slowly a bit at a time and you should be fine.
As you are actually making the board thinner in the middle you can probably expect it to be somewhat weaker. How much depends on how much you are going to take off. Shouldn't do much to the stiffness longitudinally but you may notice an increase in torsional flex ( diagonal ) and also if you sand a lot of material away, you may notice a decrease in lateral responsiveness as the board gives or bends a little in the middle as you shift weight in your front foot from heel to toe.
If you are only taking a small amount of material away though you should have no problems.
I have an Isis. I love it. Only issue I have with it is that it was made for small feet. The w-cave is too severe on my front heel and I want to sand it down. Now I have looked and most people want to add w not remove it. Basically my questions are
What complications can occur?
Any tips, equipment or things I should take in mind when sanding?
-I'll be using a belt sander and cork block
Will I be creating significant structural weakness in my board?
just put a board in the vac press have pic up soon of the finished product
If you want a neater job then a belt sander then get your hands on a piece of PVC pipe about 30-40cm long (80 or 90mm dia, 80mm should be plenty as you would most likely run wheels no bigger then this I take it) then stick sandpaper up the length of it (tape it tight at each end or glue it on)... use it like a giant file and sand your wells out, will take a little while but it will look neat. (try starting with a course grit like 40 or 60 then work up to 100 or 120 depending on how smooth you want the finish.
