what sort of ply/veneer have you been able to find around your area? obviously more ply = stiffer board, but whaddya weigh? I've made 7, 8 and 9 ply decks, generally with 1.5mm hoop pine ply but the way to take out a lot of flex is to reinforce it with glass or some such - the board below is 7 plies with Carbon Fibre on the bottom - I'm a porky 95kg's and I can't get much flex out of it!
Hey making my own board for downhill, so no flex, what wood and how many plys should i use for a nice board
Dude that looks boss, a blast to ride no doubt! In answer to your question, i was a bit concerned about torsional rigidity but i did try to twist it just with my hands and it didn't budge, not sure how that compares to actual riding conditions but i expect that because it's so short it will never be much of an issue.
Thanks for the props btw, its amazing what you can do with a bunch of grip tape offcuts!
Some super rad builds happening here! Well done Guys..
That is incredible Lloyd! the look of the metal with the Seismic trucks is something to behold - nice work! With the single "spine" do you get much tortional flex..?
Alright folks i've got my entry done. I give you, The Steel Framed Mini, 440mm wheelbase, Seismic 130 trucks - probs a bit wide but i think it's more a case of the deck being ridiculously narrow topped off with Seismic 82a Rippler wheels. Multifunctional Badass? well it's small and light enought to carry around and i've always secretly (and with a touch of conceit) thought metal boards had a certain baddass edge. Nontheless Took it for a spin down the G5 last night and it is indeed lots of fun.
Sweet board!
Woah...
