ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

so the rents just asked me if i want a longboard for christmas. and as any other rider would proberly say i said yes, now for the hard part...

i already have a loaded dervish, but i am wanting to get into a bit of downhill, so i was thinking either a evo or a demonseed, what do you guys think is the best board to get,

i know a lot of you will probs say go out and ride them and then make a decision, but i just want a basic idea to start of.

thanks

"The Evo has won more races in the past 4 years than any other board and has been the choice for 3 World Cup champions. Although this board was designed with racing in mind the shape has become extremely popular for freeriding. The 2" dropped platform keeps your feet locked in and low to the ground while the angles of the nose and tail give you stability and the perfect feel through turns. Whether you're racing or shredding your local hill, the Evo will make it that much better."

Its the only way.

Or you could just get a glyde.
I would vote for the Demonsed, or maybe even the Killswitch or Avenger, (all rayne decks)
but you still can't beat a GLYDE...
dont worry i have read over that exact statement abotu 20 times hahaha

if your a bigger guy with big feet, i'd recommend the D'seed over the Evo. not a lot of footspace for bigger people on the Evo, however in terms of downhill for the average sized rider the evo certainly wins my vote.
ridden D-seeds alot (3 of my mates own them) personally man i ride an evo and i love it, if your a bit of a freak with truck angles evo if your board, its not hard to set it up with a 0 degree back and 70 in the front or stuff like that, evo will have a good DH setup on it straight out of the box with out fucking around with baseplates, you can throw a set of randal 180's on it and have the board feeling good straight outta the box.
having said all this if your coming from a dervish i would personally get a drop through speedboard, Hell cat, Drop speed, Drop wedge are all good ideas as your used to how a deck mounted that way and with that ride height works.
either way, both boards are big thick boards and will feel like tanks... there are lots of other choices out there than evos and demonseeds...

but yeah, i wouldnt go for the demonseed unless your a big guy coz it is a big board and it better suited to free-riding, and even then its still heavy and you really wanna go for the dee-lite (but thats mega dollars), but then again the evo is a lot harder to free-ride unless you REALLY know how to slash about on a board like that.
so the choice is yours mate, both boards have very good qualities about them that will draw your decision closer to that particular board, but then both boards have things about them that you will just hate as well. they are two opposite ends of the spectrum really...
yeah thanks for that

im not looking at like full on downhill like you do and stuff just sort of easying into it, and seeing if i like it, but still being able to stuff around on do some slideing cruz and carving you know.....
\cheers

maybe u should look another board more suited to those sorts of needs... something lighter that might have a bit more flex to it?

if your just doing minimal downhill at lower speeds and more cruizy carving, do you really need a big tank of a board?

may i suggest a Rayne Hustler...
hellcat is a good all round board
the hellcat is a good all rounder board for going fast...
what Jacko said, the hustler is a very good choice, can definitely handle light to moderate dh and is also fun at lower speeds.
yer i have ridden the rayne hustler but didnt like it much, i think its a bit short for me, and my mate has just ordered a hellcat so i will be trying it out soon...
