Hey Brothers.
BMB Brothers will be rolling the Spacestation this weekend if anyone is interested Sunday Arvo... get ya ride dialled. get ya speed legs..GET ON IT !!!
There is not really a standard but 3ft seems normal for tight and hybrid, flat slalom events, PC has a 5 footer which gets used to good effect in the Kincumber Ditch in NSW.
I'm not much on skating ditches so i'll leave it to others to comment on yours. But just get a crew together clean the ditch and have a little mini event to see how it goes. Use a stopwatch if you haven't got a timer and potplants, empty bottles, cups or something if you need cones (cones dont get hit much in ditch racing, usually 1 cone DQ).
If it works well, get a bigger event going and I'm sure ASRA can lend some equipment.
I'm lucky in NSW as there are lots of experienced coneheads around to get things right. Up there you might need to fend for yourselves a bit, keep it simple to start with maybe. I for one would be stoked to travel north for an event.
is that a standard size ramp???
i guess i pictured something closer to chest high?
do you think the ditch would lend itself to a cone on either side, as in a big sweeping surfy run.
I also wondered about diferent cone spacing at diferent points along the track to mix it up or is that "just not cricket"?
Could you do two differnt tracks on the same ditch and combine the times together?
Bit un initiated when it comes to slalom.
Check here for details/plans on ramps - the portable modular one looks good as it fits in the back of a hatchback. http://www.slalomskateboarder.com/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=57&sid=...
Or PC has made some killer ramps.
Videos always make ditches look shallower than they really are.
Anyone know about standard sizes or plans to build a nice roll in. i have researched DIY skate for plans of ramps but they are all quarter pipes. i know i can use my imagination and do one from their ideas but i thought id ask.
You have all stood on a few i guess.
Haggy did you see my pm with video of the ditch??????
Looking at a ditch slalom event on the sunshine coast qld, very early stages at the moment.
Anyone in qld have access to a timer????
F it i will ad the vid here of the ditch and you can tell me if i'm dreamin. not that steep, hense the need for a nice roll in ramp. Any thoughts on staging an event would be appreciated, PM if you like.
it did look alot of work! The tight final is half way down this facebook page. Looks tight, but the finalists are machines!

I think this might be the Hybrid course?. Gnarly course, offset city!
Worlds results from Ottowa are in http://www.slalomskateboarder.com/events/2011/Ottawa/2011_World_Cha...
Looks like it was a tough tight slalom course with loads of DQs. Almost half the open field, 2/3rds of the Masters and several pros double DQed in the qualifiers, can't wait to see some video of that course.
