ching, we are not using that run, (i cant remember what we used but i think its different) we may hold it at fitzroy gardens, tomorrow's test racing at both locations will tell, we will have designated spotters etc at the event, its a saturday night kicking off at about 5.30-6.30 with a few beers being dropped pre race (good equaliser as most of the better guys love a beer)

tomorrow we are setting the course, after tomorrow it will be set in concrete unless major issues arise on the day of racing (ie rain as on a few of the courses that could make it too dangerous for the young riders) If you can make it down to give your oppinion please do (sorry to the OS guys you dont get a say) we are kicking off at 11am at flagstaff gardens. In regards to rules, EVERY RIDER NEEDS A HELMET AND GLOVES, Knee pads thick jeans full face helmets and even some leather are recomended for the race as there will be groms flying around which could get hairy for those who are trying to pass coming into the last turn. There will be judges around the course and every race will be filmed incase of any intentionally dangerous riding that may occour so guys please keep it safe (yes this is coming from me) you will be able to whinge after the race and challenge the result if someone push's you or appears to intentionally impeed your riding and is not disqualified by one of the judges on the spot. Up for grabs are some Loaded Gloves, O-tang Wheels and some gear from Hemleys.

Jan, I roll Pink Big Zigs they are grippy as all hell but a touch slow, Fendy Rides Flys on an evo and loves them, your best bet is to talk to him about those wheels as i have never ridden them.

In short be at flagstaff tomorrow if you can or else you may be upset with the setup for racing so i encourage anyone who can make it to please do so

i reckon flagstaff is doable. as long as you avoid the peak hours where everyone is walking to the train station (weekdays lunch hour and evening). im assuming we'll be using the same run as our "first race" there sean? you just need a spotter at the first right turn and then another at the left turn.

it's a good place for beginners the speeds are slow and plenty of soft grass to break your fall.

ye im reallly considering the evo now, wont be able to go though but, what wheels are u rolling sean? do flywheels grip good? and slide if you wnat them to?

I reckon i'd be a bit more at ease seeing these laws. I had a quick look on melb city councils website today on the off chance that we pull 150 people we'd have to get an event permit. Nothing is really specified skating wise on melb councils site, but you get the general idea they discourage it.
I don't care man i'll still skate it. Just want to make sure we've got all bases covered.
It would be a shame for melb longboarders or Hemley for that matter to get a bad rap & shit the general public off on our first 'do'
