rayne doesnt have a 'deal' with me untill they give me money. as far as i know i ride their boards and im on their team... there is talk of extending their budget to help out riders with racing and stuff but hey when thats gonna happen who knows. it probly will but untill then im just gonna hang with them coz eventually it will evolve into something really good, and i really dig their boards (swapped back to the nemesis now with 180 kookies lovin it much more) so the only reason i would switch brands of boards was if they offered me guaranteed help with travels to IGSA races and around $5000 for costs while on the road. sure its steep but hey thats what is needed to get around to all these races

yeah, i would consider a drop-through design as your first set-up. whilst topmounts are great, it makes learning stuff like footbraking much more difficult. they aren't as stable as drop-through's either cos of their higher center of gravity.
having said all that, if a topmount is what ur used to its not too big a deal. it doesn't really matter what u learn on. its only until you ride something else further down the track, that you realise what advantages/disadvantages ur board has.
u should atleast get something Australian or something from here. not only will it be cheaper, but it adds to the aussie longboarding industry.

yeah, i like the look of the Drop Wedge board. considering all i need is a deck for a new set-up (got lots of unused parts), i could definitely see that board being my first freeride set-up.

To get good bang for your buck i'd have to say one of Dave Kelly's FSU boards would make a great freeride/downhill deck.
I'd probably say the pro-race super drop and pair it up with grizzleys and you'll be ripping in no time. Im sure if you ask mr kelly niceley he can do you a deal... *nudge nudge dave kelly nudge nudge*

If your Just starting downhill get a freeride / downhill deck as you will get more ride time on it , than a race only deck ! ( which will improve your riding faster ).
Most races do not exeed *) kph
