So living in brisbane I'v been wanting to do mt coot-tha. Went up there on the weekend and it was full of traffic so I had to stick around the top-back area.

What do you reckon would be prime time to do the run?
and also whats the situation with brisbane's finest, how often are they out patrolling the area?
cheers

Early morning is the best time. Get on to Pete Hill and he will for sure be keen to show you the Cootha. He hits it most weekends. Might see you there to... How's your riding?
mate, you have to be very careful up at cootha, lots of traffic, bikes and stupid drivers. you will also want to be quite confident in your riding ability, as the top section can get you moving into alot of back to back corners so footbreaking is a must and so is good control through a corner. not saying your not a good rider or anything, just a warning. the surface isnt perfect either. our friends in blue aren't very keen on us up there either, so be warned. have you got leathers and a fullface?

if you're really keen on hittin it, give me a call, 0403 406 012 and we can organise to meet up there one morning.
everything Ash says is on the money, we have been riding cootha for over four years without incident or drawing unwanted attention to ourselves, that is why we can still play there, while it is not "our hill" you wouldnt exactly be making friends within the local downhill community if you were to change the situation there, for example matt ryan and the malaney road scenario would not be good publicity here and this road is also used by the goldie guys as a training road for their overseas adventures, most of us have had or witnessed some serious stacks on that hill. get onto Ash and come ride with us somewhere else first.
this is cootha.http://www.skateboardracing.org.au/video/vegas-session
get in touch and come play mate, you'll only get better skating with others.
well said boys the last thing we need is the fuzz patrolling our favourite hill...come ride with us first nick anyone is always welcome..
Gyndier is good for corners, but if your using it to get ready for Cootha your probably wanting to hit something alot faster.
If your from up sunny coast way were meeting up at buderim this weekend, there is a few fast runs up there.
there is NO comparison between gyndier and cootha they are chalk and cheese, my nine year old son can ride gyndier, he cannnot and will not ride cootha.
so u guys are basically saying don't do it unless ur 100% awsome at dh?
haha
all we are saying is that if you arent a confident ridder and cant footbrake comfotably at speed on a rough surface then work your way up too the hill.. in some sections there is no time to brake you have to set up a few corners early.. ride hills within your capability..

wallaby drive is fast but pretty striaght try to find hills with back to back corners at a good speed..give us a yell if you wanna come out for the day..cheers
I buttboarded the backside of cootha in the middle of the day during the week, but i've never done the front. Maybe next time i'm in brissy i'll give it a go.
no, what were saying is dont go hitting a hill outside your comfort level. cootha is such an awesome spot, and the last thing we want is someone who is not capable of riding the hill getting half way down, wiping out or causing an accident or worse, and having us shut down from using the spot.
