ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

They're called Blah Skateboards, they're based in Perth, the boards are so rad and unique, i haven't seen new boards come out like this before, they're just like the boards from Lords of Dogtown, (the start of the movie) Although obviously the wheels are better quality n all that, people need to check these boards out. www.blahskateboards.com.au

Please take your blatent advertising somewhere else. The name says it all Blah, Blah, Blah!!!!!

Ado when are you stocking blah boards?  I've already started growing my hair in anticipation of posing like a retro skater/surfer/bong head

Haha your kidding yourself

About as soon as I can grow MY hair (;-)>

Shaun, why don't the skaters on your website wear helmets or shoes? Is it a 60's thing?

names shaun owner of blah, stumbled upon this, thanks for appreciating it shortboard60. send blah an email mate we would like to send you a board, say your from asra. adrian, bozac you guys should open your minds a bit, the boards were created in relation to the late 50s an 60s and yes are ment to perform as close to a board in the water. and from our experiance in the water we have achieved..

good on ya bozac for growing your hair in order to be a 'poser' 'bong head'. Grow up a little fellas

Shaun, I think the main issue here is the transparent astroturfing from "shortboard60", not the style of board he was shilling. Most people here ride all sorts of boards and have pretty open minds.

Shaun,

if you had cared to do your homework rather than just having a go you would have seen that I actually own a REAL skateshop (you remember the kind, a building on a street with stock on display to the public, not some kids bedroom and a website, or a surfshop with a few decks hidden in the corner) one of the few left in Oz and am very open minded, just really hate attempts to spam a legitimate site with blatant advertising posing as independant review, but only posts once then disappears.

Nice try. If you want to advertise here, be honest about it.

Cheers

Adrian, that is an achievment and your better off than me. unfortunatly im unable to afford a store, but there has to be a start somewhere right.

I will put it this way, i was doing my homework i simply google searched blah in search of any feedback from the wider audience on there opinions of blah. i got my answer perhaps not from you but bozac. and i was perhaps out of place to tell you to grow up. but "the name blah says it all blah blah blah". i have never heard of asra until today. if he/she was sharing a well known brand and a new style of slalom board perhaps it would be a different story. maybe blah found 1 fan in australia and they wanted to share. if i had wanted to advertise on here i would have done so differently/direct, if not at all.

i do appreciate your assumption though Ado, you of all people should be all over supporting new things in the skate industry. hope this settles any hard feelings.

Shaun, boards like yours are just like the webcraft and surfer sam that I started on, although yours look like they have proper wheels & trucks.  I think it is also good that you have paid attention to important details, like performance in water....mine sank always like a rock, how do yours go???? (sorry, just being a shit.... could not resist that one!)

Retro is good, but I don't think Bozac is ready for the tie die shirt just yet...at least not without some acid!

The bare foot thing was not manadatory, we were also allowed to wear shoes in 68, and actually had dunlop volleys, which is probably what Van's copied and re-badged...you know the thing, no support, easily ripped, make ya feet smell like rubber and canvas.

Anyway, now that you have found ASRA, and you have not been savaged as bad as that dude that tried to launch some wheels, you have a good chance to make something of it.

WA needs some slalom racing, and you look like you could be just the person to kick start it.

For fun, we have a retro race at Canberra, for boards just like yours, and a 100 cone challenge (Repo-man intense), in September.  When you get hooked, the boards and the racing get serious, but keeping it fun is where you and your boards step in. (we even run events with special invites for penny board riders, to get new skaters into it, so there is plenty of room for all kinds of boards...even paddlepops!)

Its not that hard to do slalom, and there is plenty of info right here.

Fitz is on his way to Perth, and can probably help you get a slalom scene going.

So how about it, do you want to be a good part of ASRA?

on ya bernie, webs surfa sam hobie/vitapakt valsurf all those early boards weve tried to recreate with a higher performance.

of course you wore shoes! Slalom is great fun. but not a road we  are ready to take.however if you do ..seriously..have some interest in these paddlepops id be happy to donate a few to any event you get going.perhaps theyl surprise you. 100 cones would burn a few calories.

Shaun, if you really want us intetested in what you are selling, a good place to get started is getting interested in what we do. Put on a retro race, and you create demand, otherwise you will just be someone else trying to sell stuff.

Always wondered why no one put out a surfa sam style board with all the retro boards coming back. Crap way to advertise but good work keeping the prices at a reasonable level. Barefoot retro race, bring it on!
