ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Ok so the idea of a longboarding video competition had been tossed around and after some thought i think its time to get this happening. All u shredders out there this is your chance to show us all what you got. Bust out your cameras and steeze it up. Right here on ASRA we will hold the first Australian longboarding video competition, you will all have two months to shoot and cut up some of your sickest footage into a video no more than 3mins long and battle it out for the big prize! (prizes yet to be advised, but hey who gives a f*ck what you get really.... but either way it will be a sick prize - i will personally throw in a set of fresh wheels)

Lets see what the aussie riders out there have got, and lets get the creative juices flowing.
All you have to do is upload a video onto the ASRA website and post up a link right here, and on December the 9th we will unveil the winner. We will choose 3 finalists to take 1st 2nd and 3rd, and these 3 videos will all be featured on the Skatehorde.com website.

What we will be looking for:
- Originality
- Steeze
- Good cinematography (camera work)
- Some form of story-line or flow to the video
- Editing
- Sound tracks
- Good use of colours in images
- Interesting camera angles
- All around gnar-ness

Videos can be shot of whatever you want as long as it has to do with longboarding. You can shoot a hectic downhill video, you can put on your red shoes and dance the blues away or you can style it up in your favourite urban environment, anyway you wanna do it get 'er done, but make it look sick!
Get creative with the cameras and film something new, try skating in different areas that you normally wouldn't skate and capture the moment, spread the stoke by trying to capture the feeling you get from longboarding.
All videos must be new and original, videos that have already been uploaded on this site before today (October 11 2009) will not be counted, give the people something they have never seen before so we dont get this competition flooded with old videos we have seen 1000 times before!

If you have any questions feel free to ask. Lets get it happening! If anyone wants to help out by donating prizes that would be wicked. Hopefully we can get this competition running as an annual or monthly thing, so keep those videos happening. Remember if you are a finalist your video will be featured on the Skatehorde.com website. This is a great chance to not only get your steezy skating skills noticed but to really develop your video filming/editing skills!

REMEMBER THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION TO SEE WHO IS THE BEST SKATER, THIS IS A COMPETITION TO SEE WHO CAN CREATE THE BEST VIDEO OF LONGBOARDING.

Canberra Downhill video comp entry/sound revamped from luke whitmore on Vimeo.

Exactly the same as the original video except I have fixed the audio during the interview scenes and made them louder. It is an entry into Jacko's video comp on ASRA and also a teaser/trailer for a longer doco that I am doing at the moment. A representation of how Australian riders are shredding the gnar.

my vid runs for 4mins, i can cut it down but it will lose all meaning and be a bunch of clips cut together.

then you will have to do a new video... if this is going to be a competition then the rules will have to apply for everyone. Not everyone will even be able to make a video that will be 3 mins long and they might post up something thats 1 min long but it could be the most epic thing you have ever seen. This is where your film making skills come into play, if the video is too long then you will need to think of a way to cut it down and still have the same effect u would like it to have.

videos as long as 10 mins will not be accepted...

BANNED LOL But it rocks !! OLDY but a goody !!
Ok I have a story board (all technical already!!) and locations chosen (gettin' worried yet?) I have the editing suite set up (easy) but let's talk about copyright type stuff...just say I put together the absolute dogs nuts of a video that makes the over 60's bingo at my local RSL stand and head towards bathurst; how do I stop it being copied by someone and remade using different people?
my camera man (oooh camera man) wanted to know
imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...
