hey guys...i've been thinking about grabbing myself some freeride and drift wheels...i'd love to be able to get Hawaii K's....but apart from nostalgia i don't like the price for the performance.

so that leaves me with a few ideas, what's the general consensus:

80-92a Grippins (70mm)
81a Fly's (76mm)
78a powerballs (72mm)
88a Strikers (77mm)
85-95a Gravity super sliders (72mm)
80a O'tangs (75mm)
centreset krypto's...
82a LY Hawgs

guessing the Hawgs and flys/strikers and grippins will get first votes....
grav's apparently are pretty slow...
'tangs- dunno...

thoughts?

yeah i have my 81a Fly's (76mm) on my evo for drifty stuff and hot summer DH stuff. they ride much harder than the duro cos of the lack of thane. but i'm looking for something a bit harder now, so interested in getting me some Strikers. unsure tho between 88a or 84a.
ps. don't get Gravity's. there is a set of 85a's sitting in my room that haven't been mounted for ages. they are slow and don't slide/drift out as well as they should.
my 78a 83mm flys drift and slide pretty easy and will last a long long time, but pretty expensive
Blue Kryptos are pretty much the nicest drifty wheel you can get. they are super hard to find now though, the landy hawgs are the next best bet.

i got some of the old S9 top shelf wheels from Dave and they are sweet. 75a, 75mm, about the same width as a flywheel and centre set. They are surprisingly grippy, yet still slide quite well. make for a fun all rounder.
Another wheel to consider (as if you don't already have enough choices) is the Cortec Silverbacks in 70mm very nice drifty wheel.

Cheers

I have the 77mm 88a Strikers and they are amazing for sliding... Compared to the 84a gummies i used to run these wheels are uberrr smooth. You definately wont be disappointed.
When are you thinking of getting a set cos the Loaded freeride wheel is coming out late this year, i'll definately be picking up a set?
its really coming down to strikers or hawgs at the moment...but loaded is doing a new drift wheel...and apparently so is grav and was it lush i heard doing a bigger free ride wheel?

didn't know coretech where doing freeride/drift wheels...will Czech it out (ba-zing.)

hmmm....so as it stands right now:

82a hawgs
88a strikers

both centre set, both pretty damn hard, both will small contact patches...hmmm....
Plus, and i cant comment for the hawgs, but even a softer duro of strikers will still slide the same... The 88a doesn't even feel that harsh but if you're going on rough asphalt often i would go for the 84a cos it does get a little shaky..
so....another suggestion was 92a flashies and the 83a black ops...

also, where are people buying their wheels from? i'm not paying $60 for wheels then paying $60 for shipping...
Our generous sponsor, Hopkin Racing, has free shipping for wheels.

If you want really drifty, the Rainskates Tsunamis could be an option. 85A, 65mm, centre-set with radiused edges.
Are the silverbacks offset? 'cause greg has an offset set of cortecs. hmm
the problem is that i want 70mm minimum....why wont someone do a drift wheel....properly!!!

70-80mm...decent 'thane and round edges/centre set....thats all i want...is that too much to ask?
( oh and a 40mm-ish contact patch, 84a ish and available here in australia.)

anyone? come on gravity!!!
hmmm....85mm 82a Hawgs are 46 dollars aus....how much does LY cost for shipping? any idea?

if its less than thelongboardstore.com i'm buying direct.
