you can DH on cast trucks perfectly fine, leathers will save your skin
Leathers. They'll allow you to ride bigger hills and learn more than whatever difference precisions make. Also, in two weeks summer will be over, so leathers won't be such a hassle to wear temperature-wise.
get a fullface first and gloves if you dont already. Kneepads help if your going without leathers

cheers guys!

i have gloves kneepads and kinda have a full face already so leathers were the next step! i m kind of a weird body shape tho (really short but wide shoulders) would i be best to hunt around on ebay and 2nd hand stores or find a cheep custom suit. saw on here that arcticboyz do a custom suit for 500 USD postage included but haven't heard much about em.

ebay a second hand one.Dont spend more then $150 on your first set of leathers. I snatched mine for $50 with $14.50 postage off ebay. Bid in the last 20 seconds
Robert's got the right idea re ebay, but $150 is pretty cheap. You might need to go a little higher. With your body shape you're gonna have a suit that's too long in the arms and legs, but you can always use gaffa tape to help try and fit the loose/extra bits of the suit better to your body.
haha yea tried on a euro 48 and it was to long for me

get some 42 randals mate

sick stable cast truck, rad for dh, and cheap as chips

get leathers if your going fast, and like your skin... :)

http://shop.ebay.com.au/sharpswords123/m.html 100% custom, say a lil smaller than what u are tho they come a bit bigger than you ask for(mine did anyway)

yea man i run 42 randel base plates wiv paris hangers cos i dont like the feel of randel hangers! haha

cheers for all the help!

A good rule of thumb for precision trucks: If you need to ask, you don't need them

When you start going 70-100km/h, they will start to make a huge difference, I always think, outgrow your gear before buying more (I'm still on my first board and 50* baseplates, and have done 80km/h.)

As far as leathers go, visit a local leather store if you can (hi-side leathers if you are in brisbane) or e-bay, your first pair will never fit perfectly, so go cheap as said before, then start going to the expensive stuff when you stop falling off as much down technical courses!

Well said Tim.

My input is 'What Tim said.' hahaha

Oh by the way, James Kelly got Second place at Newtons Nation last year on Randals...
