ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

The ASRA crew are are now ensconced in their luxury villa in Bathurst, preparing for the coming weekend. Grom Cooper is here with us on work experience and he just made a delicious pizza - nice one Coops.

We've been working hard, busy posing with money:

and fake money:

and tomorrow it'll be time to put out the hay bales. The vert ramp was built today, and the top of the mountain is starting to turn into a festival site.

Stay tuned to this thread for more of the inside info. When the race starts (Friday morning folks!) I'll be posting some commentary here.

Just read.... race is on?????? Is that correct?
Sitting in NorCal living vicariously through ASRA!!!!!
Thanks for the updates, chaps!
Talked to a few riders...opinion is divided. Some are very keen to ride...they tend to be Canadian.
i can definently understand why the canadians are keen to ride, they come from the other side of the world, they ride in the wet at home and they definently want to ride this track no matter what, i hope the race go's ahead
Vote has been taken on whether to race:

Classic: No
Luge: No
Inline: Yes
Women: Yes
Juniors: Yes
Skateboard: Yes

It's pissing down and we're racing, and we have live video at the top, watching everybody slide all over the shop.
Mischo is not racing. Not sure about Dalua. K-Rimes was super keen to race, good chance for him to get $5,000.
Stoked that a majority of the riders want to race in rain even though it's such a gnarly track.
Well, it was a majority of the racers that turned up the rider's meeting, which was held at the start line in the pouring rain. I know a few riders who didn't want to ride were back at the hotel/campsite - they didn't get to vote.

We're in a cloud here, can't see much, really raining hard. Racing hasn't started yet. We're spreading the haybales out thinner - the crash zones have now expanded, especially the first little right before the dipper - it used to be nothing but now it's crazy.
Dalua and Christoph Batt said they weren't racing in the rain, but there they are on the start line, ready to go. It's on.
The crowd watching the video:

Dalua and Batt on start line in the rain:

Crowd going crazy watching the video, every slight corner is a slidefest.
Thanks for all the updates!!!! Keep it up!!!
more live report and photos pls!
Grom Kelly beats Andrew Chapman. Merrick and Early Jeremy on the line now.
