ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

The ASRA crew are are now ensconced in their luxury villa in Bathurst, preparing for the coming weekend. Grom Cooper is here with us on work experience and he just made a delicious pizza - nice one Coops.

We've been working hard, busy posing with money:

and fake money:

and tomorrow it'll be time to put out the hay bales. The vert ramp was built today, and the top of the mountain is starting to turn into a festival site.

Stay tuned to this thread for more of the inside info. When the race starts (Friday morning folks!) I'll be posting some commentary here.

Qualifying has started.
The crowd at the top watching the live video:

Bowditch crashed hard in qualifying.
Far out, nice time Ashley Donaldson! Hope you're ok Bow!
How's Myles's time and Kelly, was he racing yellow sector 9 wheels by any chance? Go joe get, em.
Hope jack is ok, remember Joes shoulder crash didn't look that bad last year either and his shoulder was a mess.
Mischo in 1st. Gabe on track now.
Benbro speedchecks into Forrest, and places 5th.
James Kelly - massive pendy into Forrest, 2nd place.
K-times massive footbrake at forest only inches from the wall...80k...nuts.
Dalua and p-swiss big Brazilian footbrake...fast. Dalua first.
stop teasing us, i want videos! haha
fark sounds awesome, unlucky for jacko
wish i was there
Back in the Bathurst ASRA bunker now after a big day. Holy shit the standard of riding is crazy...the fast guys are insane.

Predictions that Dalua's style would suit the hill came true, and he ripped out his big Brazilian footbrake into 1st place in the timed qualifiers. Mischo was rock solid in second, and P-Swiss also rocked the Brazilian footbrake into 3rd. K-Rimes got 4th spot without seeming to push out at 100% effort. And the Australians - Merrick in 12th and Kam in 15th, and Jacko in hospital with a dislocated shoulder, prognosis surgery. Small chance he may ride tomorrow, but very small.

Big props to Zubin who stepped up from carpark riding to the gnarliest hill in Oz and survived.

Today's times will seed the riders into the race-to-qualify for.tomorrow. From now on it's all head-to-head riding.

Here's Evren the Feather asking if it's OK to ride down the hill:

Jacko's got a new sponsor, and he even gave his mum one of their caps:

But the Shapiera household has been invaded by a filthy skate crew, and one of them did this:

And the festival is kicking off tonight..they've hired the local Uni students to make some signs:

Back for more tomorrow...
