I have looked around and because they dollars so high i thought because Im getting into downhill i needed a full face helmet for pretty much any race, and i have searched' helmets' and looked on most posts and i have a few questions:
would this be good enough even though its an 08 model?
and if i filled up the gaps and repainted it would i fill up the ventilation holes on the side and front? and will this pass aus standards, and even though it dosent say a weight i think i saw an 09 model that weighed 1068g so it might be abit heavier, is that too heavy?
prob the 09 one, not sure, they'll all be pretty similar. not sure about visor, i hear you can get sheets of plastic from the hardware store and make your own.
Leave all the vents. Your gonna need em to stay cool.
The more expensive helmets like Risch and Icaro don't have vents to get more aero but mostly to save money on production cost.
1kg is relatively light compared to 1.4-1.5kg moto helmets.
Be very careful if you paint your helmet. I strongly advise that you don't!
Some paints can deteriorate the shell making it much weaker and prone to breaking alot easier on impact.
Great find at that price. Bell are a very reputable brain-bucket maker.
sweet thanks fitz, cos i was looking on silverfish and i saw this guy like filled in the front with filler and sand back the whole thing and painted it, and so i dont filll that massive hole in the front cos wouldnt that affect it alot?
What size are you after? I have that exact helmet in exceptional condition SIZE LARGE with homemade visor for sale $75 plus postage. This helmet is great, the vent at the front is sweet, you get no fogging at all. I'll even throw in enough plastic and velcro to make two more visors
its great value for money, it has plenty of padding and the ventilation is great. Not as much vision as a charly or predator but for the money. Go for it
