ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

This is for all those wanting to hook up for a skate in the Newcastle area.

All are welcome, beginners through to pros, come have a sesh and help spread the stoke!
The crew is small but welcoming and wanting to expand.

the current regular session is:

wednesday nights 7:30pm meet at Charlestown Squares Myer carpark for some garage racing / shredding and then onto maquarie hills for some longer runs if people are keen.

The garage run is about 6 tight full spirals down into a tighter and steeper switch back at the bottom.

The Maquarie Hills run is just a 1km gentle sweeping hill max speed only being around 35km/h when not tucked, so its quite comfortable for newcomers.

Leave us a message if you want to meet up or have a new spot for us to session.

im in!
might have to start a semi regular sunday arvo session again.....im out this weekend, got a ride so im goin to canberra
sick! once i get some harder wheels im in, im having difficulty sliding with the 9balls i have now i think theyre a 76a. p.s, im a bit of a noob, but im not afraid to go fast and i should be able to slide if its in the carpark. my highest comfortable speed at the moment is probably about 50kms. i ride an S9 ghost tree btw!
p.s im available every thursday afternoon, i have tafe in newcastle until 4-430, im keen for carpark sessions or even some not-to-steep DH runs. feel free to send me a message on 0447455886, im always working so if you call i wont pick up since i'll be busy!
I was there at Murrays with Phil yesterday, had a great time, thanks for the tip Benbro. We're making progress every session but still just learning from videos and trial and error, would be great to meet up with some more experienced riders that can teach us a thing or two.
I have some 78a 9balls and they slide like crazy, you should be fine with the ones you have just need to work on technique.

Hey Phil.
I'll try to get up for a wednesday sesh in the next few weeks with Benbro.
Sounds like fun.
This is awesome progress guys, I will be skating tomorrow night at the regular if anyone is keen let me know I shall do what I can to help out with travel arangements.
my workdays will be back to normal in a few weeks (wednesday/friday off) so i will definately start meeting up with you guys more often! and i spose since im trying to teach myself to slide based on what i read im having a bit of trouble learning that way. i normally learn alot easier when im shown things in person so i will keep trying!..

p.s im free this thursday/friday/saturday all in the afternoon! anyone keen to meet up and have a sesh? i bombed my biggest hill tonight. Toronto private hospital down to nelson street. that shit is steep as for someone with little experience like me. it lasted me about two minutes. i didnt have my GPS with me so next time i will have to start recording speeds.!

i've also found a possibly decent DH run going from Toronto private hospital all the way down too Dora creek, check it out on google maps! i reckon the whole run could be done without any pushing but there is a tiny bit of elevation half way down so i will go check it out this weekend for sure!
bro that would freshhhh! yea ill hit you up one day soon dude, me tommo and jackmeyn will probs come up :)
