Who is interested in this form of skating.?
What is the furthest you have skated in one session.?
What is your setup for distance skateing.?
Do you push or pump.?
My best efort sofar is 50km on a sector9 trilam 180randals 73mm75a siesmics.
It took 3hrs half headwind half tailwind 80%pumping 20%pushing.

thanks robbo..would my sayshun compass (bought from you/hopshop) setup (grizzlies and purple stimulus) be alright?

I think Haggy has skated that, he might join you for a roll
yeah, same with me..still around 30mins drive from my place to wherever start at the M7 bike path. from your experience,do cyclists shun skateboarders? like give you death stares or something of that sort? coz i do get that here in my suburb..and everytime i skate at night, there will always be a security car that keeps passing by me..same security car around 3-5 times in an hour or so til i go home..

Sounds like it would be a great setup. Anything with a decent wheelbase (holds speed well) and big soft wheels is fine for pushing around longer distances.

I don't know anyone skating the path regularly. I would do it more, but I live a bit far away.

its not that bad pushing my evo that far, it i pick my route right i can skate on flat the way and 90% downhill on the way home, its keeping me fit thats for sure, having an evo with pink zigs helps though, i tried pushing my avenger the same trip and got the bus home in the end

Recent records include James Peters' 208 mile ride in May 2008 and Barefoot Ted McDonald's 242 mile ride on June 14th during the Ultraskate IV held in Seattle, Washington which set a new world record [1].

For those of you who do long distance in Melb, this is a pretty cool site to help plan your route.

the woody has been getting some good reviews, though it tends to go soggy after a while and bottom out. there are much better distance decks out there.

I skated with Dave on his world record breaking last 2ks at Homebush. I've got a rolls rolls deck and it is a great long distance pushing deck. Although the New Zealander who recently broke the distance record (solo mind you) said the Long Board Larry he used for the last leg of his trip was better.

He turned his Rolls Rolls into a trailer after it got some cracks. Mine the the same cracks now and flexes a lot more than the should. Let me know if you want a carbon fibre trailer Hamish!

I like the look of the new Rolls Rolls "Woodys" too. www.rollsrolls.com
how did i miss this thread.

So I've been doing my normal run but on my new setup.
Rayne Demond seed with holeys dropthrough and 1.5 cm of riser 85mm siesmics.
She is as low as posible and is very easy to get going and once going it takes very little efort to maintain a good pushing speed . Pushing normal almost as confidently as mongo (go mongo).
Kept the standard hourglass bushings but replaced the top with (venom tall cone)red better rebound I recon.
With this new set up I've taken 25 to 35 min of a 2 hr run .
So I'm pritty dame stoked with that.
Marek if your serious about your cabon rolls I'd love to start playing around with the trailer idea and see how mutch wait I can drag around and still make good time.
(I am curios as to why distance skating is not popular in the Australian longboard comunity it seems popular over in europe Canada England America ) check out unkel
nat - great blog. i recall looking at it a while ago. first thing i saw today was your matt hensley pic - rad. he was my one of my favorite skaters growing up, total ripper and so creative for his time. the other was ray barbee, i think his part in ban this is the best part ever made, the music, the flow, the vibe, unreal stuff...

anyhoot. so i'm ready to get on this long distance thing for real. planning skating from sydney to canberra before the annual conehead cup weekend there in september. i'm sure i will be checking in for tips on packing, etc...
