ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

its been suggested that i have brutally ripped off the killswitch, i feel its as similar to it as a drop race is to a demonseed, the concept behind it is obviously the same and to be honest if i had not stood on a killswitch it probably would not have come about, but i feel they are two different boards like a landy evo and a kebbek caften, similar in concept but different in design.

so what does the general public here think, should i keep em comming or am i bringing us aussies into disripute?

don't be shy, i've got broad shoulders and thick skin

(olly, i already know you think glyde sucks dick, thats cool, maybe i do?)

shit yeah judge, i've never actually bothered to name em so......
let it from this day forth be called just that DILLIGAF
( insert smashing of champagne bottles and lighting of spiffs here)
I think it's pretty much a copy of the Killswitch. But if Glyde (or anybody else) couldn't copy the Killswitch, what would be the result? Rayne would have less competition and would make more money, at the expense of the deck-buying public. Copiers lower the price for the deck-buying public, so good on 'em. It's not only the deck-buying public that wins; every extra dollar that is saved by buying a Glyde rather than a Killswitch is likely to be spent on some other skateboarding product, so every skate company wins. Except Rayne.

The only argument in favour of protecting innovators from competition is if competition dissuades the innovators from innovating in the first place. That's unlikely to occur in the skateboard deck design world, where barriers to entry are so small, and there's a bunch of enthusiasts around the world who will be innovating away regardless.

The positives outweigh the negatives. Go Glyde.

My argument might not be the same if it was Rayne ripping off Glyde. The important thing is to get the best result for the deck-buying public, and having the 600 lb gorilla stomping on the little guy can lead to monopoly/oligopoly situations that disadvantage the deck-buying public in the long run.
sic name,its already stuck!
personally I think W concave is for short people with little feet...

also, seems this topic/convo went the same way on Silverfish as it did here >>>

if you can't be bothered with the link, this comment pretty much summed things up...
"waiter, i'd like one vagina please, extra sandy."
Any one who said this is a tool how do you think ideas are refined and improved, i made my own deck and stated in the board builders forum that i wanted to make a killswitch like board, but it changed an now people say its a hell cat, and its fun as to ride. The point is if you can make a board better than pete you can afford to have an opinion if not shut up.
Pete has given me advice as i built my board and as late as last night gave me advice on how to improve the next one.
Emphasis on improve, refine, and interperate, i so want to swear but i don't want to lower my self to the level of his critics who don't seem to have a brain.

Pete you in will always be "the man".
If you were in K-Rimes position and came up with a truly original concept, you're bound to be a bit upset when someone copied it... but if that's the next innovative step then its inevitable... if not from Gylde then the someone else would have done it. Give it 6 months and there will be 10 different brands of decks that will have a W concave..... maybe K-Rimes / Rayne should have patient such designs if it was going to be an issue...?
ill tell you one thing pete alot more people will know the name glyde now kev has mentioned it...any publicity is good publicity..

Bending wood into a Skateboard is such a great thing to do and anyone who does it obviously is doing it for love , with Love - that's how we do it at Rayne too.

Another thing we do at Rayne is to make New skateboard concepts. In fact, that's the only thing we do. Since the killswitch was a Unique design, we decided to protect it even though we have new ideas all the time.

Luckily we filed in the USA And abroad!

Most Drop thru's and other longboard demands weren't protected by patent in the past. The killswitch is. Internationally. The design likely won't be published RIGHT away because my understanding is that the Uspto office is very backed up. Anyway, it's not my job to te|| XVD and GLYDE how they Are infringing. they need to research that on their own.

My advice is simply to move on.. spend that time finding a new way to innovate. there are certainly new things still to be done! the community will benefit More! More love will grow! Your names will grow, Sales will grow!there will be more competition! better skateboards! and more love for bending wood.. .
Something from the fish and a rayen worker
just checked out the silverfish post, interesting despite the loading times of the pages due to the massive animated ads, I'll get some advice in the morning from those in the know about patents and how they apply, my understanding is that if they were in the process of patending the killswitch there would have had to be some notice about that attached to images and data relevant to the board in question.
i personaly just think you boards are let yea one of the best ive seen, keep making them once i get enough money youll have another order;)
It was funny seeing that pink and black drop thru Glyde on the silverfish forums again that board was built before i got my first glyde, Haven't seen it for ages but by the sounds of it, she has been around to a few people!!! I wouldn't be suprised if you got more international attention asking about other boards like Leeso was saying.......Keep on rocking until the lawer comes knocking I say!!!!
keep em coming pete. we'll buy em!
go underground....aussie black market skateboards!
