60 degrees is about right for a front slalom truck, but Randal hangers aren't great for slalom. For a cheap starter setup I'd recommend a Bennett for the front truck and a Tracker RT/S 106 for the rear truck. Throw in a standard 8 deg Khiro wedge front and rear, both with the skinny side facing forward, and away you go.

okay thanks for your awesome help man, would 60 degree randal baseplates be a dumb idea?

Shane, 150mm trucks are very wide for slalom. The Tracker RTS/X are 106mm, and Bennetts are 110mm - those are about the right width.

also some 150mm trucks ? i see that all salom riders use those

Something around 9-10 inches wide, with a wheelbase of around 19-22 inches (inner truck holes to inner truck holes), and quite stiff.

That's the important stuff. Once you've got that done you can consider various concave shapes and kicktails.

Perfect day for slalom in the sun today.

We're doing it all again tomoz, same time (don't forget to wind your clocks back).

Hopefully it will be just as nice.

Cya's there.

Forgot to add that I prefer riding a different section than the usual big GS straight.

I've been riding just opposite that bottom section of the loop junction.

I also highlighted a great parking spot to save the long trudge back up the hill at days end. Its on Eton St. but you have to come in off Merton St. South and follow the signs to the Bee Garden.

Who's keen for a slalom sesh at Sutho this sat?

Weather looks like it might be okay. Last day before we plunge into post daylight savings.

Jack and I have about 60 cones and I don't mind setting a course to suit even the newest of riders. The trick I've found is to just start further down the line and work your way up the hill as you get used to it.
