anyone who remembers slalom comps at Bangalow might be interested in this.

So all we will need is someone to talk em into adding a slalom race to the program!
A ball end in a spherical bushing doesn't make sense to me as the ball will just kind of flop around, maybe i haven't followed the description right. Ball end in a cup would be fine. I was working on the theory that the ball doesn't support any weight - the bushing does that. The shaft can move freely through the bearing so the pivot just guides the hanger.
Love to get down to Southo on Sunday but can't make it this week. Any chance of something more central? Someone had a place in rose bay or thereabouts- can we try for that again? otherwise we could host one on the sunny side of the harbour. Craig?
so you dont need a ball end pivot.
.or they're cheapskates.
And the cap screw screws into the hanger itself and uses a jam nut to secure it
Boz,
airflows use a tracker rt x baseplate with aa normal tracker pivot cup.
The pivot itself is a 8mm, 1.25tpi cap screw that has the OD of the head
turned down to 11mm with straight and parallel sides to fit the pivot cup.
I guess Mr Airflow figures with a near 0deg kingpin setup,
when the hanger leans the pivot only rotates in the cup,
it doesnt lean over in the cup like a steering hanger pivot does,(hard to explain).
...penciling in tech talk time with Fitz this Sunday!
i have always wondered what difference it would make in an airflow rear in the pivot, they use a weird pivot though it isn't a ball shape
Marek, Fitz hooked up Bugs and I with spherical upgrades on our splitfire rears (randal baseplate), so simple it was ridiculous, just ploped in perfectly and the ball screwed easily into the hanger (fitz may have machined the thread?) Thanks Fitz!
Bump: Sutherland Sunday??
Nice, I want to put this in my Splitfires which have Randal baseplates and have an adjustable pivot in the hanger but lack that wide shoulder the Randal hanger has to push on the bearing. I think I need more of a cup bearing or to change the pivot somehow. I know some Splits have pivot bearings, anyone got one with a pic or description of how it is done?
hi, yeah the fit is nice which makes it so much easier than drilling out the baseplate. you can convert back easily that way too. The hardest part is getting a nice straight hole in the hanger for the bolt to fit.
Bearing are from igus:

or smallparts.com.au
16mm for bennetts (bit of a tight fit there)
19mm for randal
both are 8mm bore.
