trip around Australia route plotted but not set in stone.

Righto thanks everyone for your support on my query about the idea of carving the roads all the way around Australia on a longboard. I have plotted the route and will be uploading exactly where i will be going in the next week or so. At the moment I am still tossing around the idea of doing a self supported trip but the more research i do the more it looks like a possible suicide mission. Some stretches mostly WA and NT have 10 days before the next settlement or creek where i can collect water, food and have new pairs of shoes delivered to.

The entire trip will take a maximum of 18months and a minimum of 12 months. I'm looking to start and finish here in byron bay hopefully at the beginning to the middle of summer this year... that way NT and WA will hopefully be that 2 degrees away from heat stroke.

QLD- 3-4 months if i cut across from rockhampton instead of heading to my hometown of port douglas (cairns) which will make it 6 months

NT- 2 months

WA - 6months stickign to the coastal roads right down to the bight

SA - 1-2 months

Tas - undecided on whether to go there or skip it

VIC & NSW -  2 - 3 months

The entire time I will be doing my best to avoid the heavily trafficked roads but the majority of my trip will be spent on the nations highways.

Now i'm after some information.

1. I would love to know if there are any Aussie cpmpanies that are manufacturing or are able to manufacture an Australian made board similar to the specs of the rolls rolls longboard that david cornthwaite did the nullabour on. After researching that is definately my best bet of completing this.

2. I only want anything and everything to be made here in Australia from the wheels to the trucks to the bolts and the nuts especially the board. If you know a good company let us know so i can start sending out letters for sponsorship but most likely for quotes on how much it's all going to cost me.

3. This whole thing will be to raise money for charity in the history of longboarding one beneficiary has always been the lowesyndrome assosciation so it's only fitting that they also be a beneficiary here in Australia. the other two foundations will be the red cross and the cancer council Australia because they have done the most miles towards helping humanity people can either choose a specific charity or put into a general pot that will be split between all three equally

4. Any ideas on how to structure the fund raising side of things would be great... not sure on taking bets on how far i'll get or do it money per kilometre per day.

5. If you want to come jsut come any companies good company remember I'm planning on going anti clockwise around Australia so you want to join me for 10 metres or 40km the conversations could be a relief from "push...push...push...push... carve... push..." going through my head methodically for days on end.

next couple of months the route will be concreated and people can make the decision on what stretch they want to join me on...

anyway i'm pretty much everything i wanted to say but the main thing i really want is a good Aussie company... which may be hard since they all are

Thanks for your supprt and suggestions

""you would be lucky to get some Kooky's, maybe second-hand, however i haven't heard of another Australian truck brand""

"Thats the last truck I would think of for a long distance skatetrip ahaha. may as well dress up as a knight while your at it!!!!"

well he's looking for Australian stuff, thats all i could come up with. anyone know anyone else in Aus that makes trucks?
how do you plan on rideing down from mareeba. are you going down the karranda range?. coz thats some crazy shit....
This is a crazy idea....

Just keep an eye out for the road trains, and don't look like a kangaroo, cause they won't stop.
yeah if i do kurranda though it's going to have to be with a support vehicle... i've got my coleman slide pretty well sorted out to save board and body all i'm worried about is whats behind me.. if i send a vehicle ahead of me i can know where about vehicles are ahead and check my speed at the right time.. also plan on letting radio stations know about my idea to inform people of where i am so hopefully they have in mind that theres an idiot on the loose and check thier speed but as i said routes not set in stone... i'll proberly end up heading up to mount molloy via port douglas/mossman route and head down the long way to rockhampton but i'm actually thinking of cutting out the top end entirely from rockhampton up since it's literally an extra two months added onto the circuit...

mount molloy is still a pretty decent hill isnt it??. an dyeah the range would be a bit of a difficult one...., it would suck if you do cut out the top end, i was really looking forward to maybe be able to skate belong side of you for a bit..., but it would all depend on what time of year your in cairns, if not i will just ride with you in adelaide...
