I just got a set of indy 215's and i've found that the kingpin is too short for double barrels, I don't want to buy Core baseplates but i want to replace the kingpin. Would it be ok to pound the kingpin out with a hammer and replace it with a hex head kingpin? im unsure if the hex kingpin would fit in the indy baseplate though, can anyone give some insight into this? All help is appreciated, Thanks.

what do you mean by the hex kingpin not fitting? it might be too wide to fit in there?
the indy kingpin has a button head which is set in a small round recess in the bottom of the baseplate, im not sure if the hex head would fit into the hole properly
hmm...you could always take to it with a metal drill bit in a drill press if it doesn't fit i spose?
hey stephen...i'll try using a hex kingpin on g's indy plates and see how it goess i'll let you know in a bit!
You need to get the same type kingpin to replace it if it's bent. Unfortunately I pretty sure they don't make longer ones.
This type kingpin is pressed in and has splines to stop it spinning around.
You can hammer it out but you need a press to put one back in.
A hex head isn't designed to go in there without modifying the baseplate. Theres alot of work needed to do it.
Just had a look, the indi plates i have, have a splined wafer head kingpin sittinnin a rounded hole app 17mmD.
Standard 3/8 bolt head is app 14mm flat to flat,16mm point to point so the head of the bolts not goin to stop
against anything just spin round as you tighten it.
However if you take the splined k/p out and theres enough interference from the splining in the hole and you use
a sealent (loctite) "shaft fit" or "bearing fit" it make stick enough, it may work ok.

Another way is to fit a tight fittin washer on the k/p then bend the washer round two of the opposite flats,
so bolt pointin down washer bent into a u shaped cup, bolt goes into washer adds another 2mm to the flat sides.
Then it should be fat enough to wedge.
Bit of pissin round but a secure way to do it, have to file sand a bit to get it all too fit.

Gettin long splined kingpins is hard, maybe someone nows where to get em.
Wayne. (followin in the footsteps of prof FITZ).
yup, tried hammering the kingpin out of the plates it wouldn't even budge. and from reading what fitz and wayne said, i think you're better off getting some core baseplates unless you're willing to put in the effort!
And i happen to have some Core trucks goin cheap!
how cheap is that wayne? i'm very interested :D
Pretty sure I've read that Paris kingpins fit Indy plates.
just curious, but what bushings do fit the indys with its original kingpin? would venom standards and khiro standards fit?
What are you using them for?
