Going to be buying a new DH/freeride setup soon, i dont want grippy wheels really and i want to keep the price down, i already have raldal 180's and modus ceramics to put on it so here is the list of parts i am thinking of

Omni drop 43
Randal 42 deg base
Gravity fu manchu's 82a

How are the Fu's as a drifting wheel?

Fumanchu are perfect for drifting and sliding. Tall so you get good speed and heaps of thane. Radiused lip. Side set set bearing and best of all, cheap! These are from the same moulds the old Krypto's were from. Same core everything.
You're gonna need 8mm bearing spacers. You can get away with old bearing inner race(7mm) plus 1 bearing washer(1mm) as a substitute. 8mm aren't common anymore.
Drifting and sliding will thrash your ceramics but not the balls. When they're worn out buy any good abec7 bearings and swap the old ceramic balls into them for fresh new ceramics again.
so fitz that should hold me for newtons??? thats what i am setting the deck up for pretty much, for newtons playground
Setup correctly with suitable bushes, Yes.
Let me just say you got balls of ceramic taking it on though. Have you seen it in real life?
Yeah i reckon if this is your first proper dh board i would think it out alot more for doing newtons.
Are you competeing Fitz?

No I havnt seen it, I promised myself i would compete, my grand pa was a big supporter of my skating and he always loved the fact that i went fast on a skateboard (coolest 89 year old ever origionally i was going to do the slide comp but that was called off so i have decided i am going to run it for him, end of the day he would of given it to me if i didn't race and he was still here

Sorry to hear the news about your grandad. Sounds like you're gonna have a crack anyway.
My advice is practice taking LH turns at high speed. Forest Elbow is insane.
cheers for the support, realistlclly is foot breaking into forrest a must? when i take corners i prefer not to foot break as it throws me off abit, is pre drifting an option through the course?
It just depends how much heat you bring. If you tuck from the esses across the mountain straight better be bringing skills with you. I paid the price in pain. Haven't been able to get that monkey off my back since. After the elbow its nothing but fun till the finish.

Sean, sector 9 race formulas are a decent wheel that grips but will slide very nicely once you push it that it further. but the fu manchus do look like a very fun drifty wheel... good luck at newtons sean! representing the melburners :)
Yeah so has anyone actually ridden the Gravity fu manchu wheels?
probably just need different wheels for newtons, somthin with plenty of grip
I used to roll krypto classic. Exactly same shape
Gravity thane isn't that much different.

If you want a premo wheel with an essay of hype, spend up on other brands. If you want a wheel that does 90% the same job, gravity wheels suffice.

Just for the record, people used to bag out radiused lips like on flywheels and now they're the latest craze with the new Free ride. Go figure?
