40" Vault Dropdown, need good wheels for sliding, any recommendations?

Hey guys, i have got a 9 ply 12mm Canadian maple vault deck, reverse kingpin Trucks 7", abec - 7 Bearings/with spacer, 70 x 51mm clear 78A duo wheels, 8/14 mm angled riser pads. I have had this board for about 5 months and have havent done much bombing or going FAST. I just want to know if these wheels would be alright for sliding or do i need some new HARDER ones, cos my originals are too soft. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

don't get an omni drop if u want an all-around board. To me, omni drop is just a stiffer version of a vault drop. Plus I've only seen sean riding his omni like twice. I say go the CHC and check out all the different boards there r and make your choice that way.

Dude that's more than enough for a decent set-up. Check out some of the completes on www.hopkin.com.au . Most of them are well under 500. Still give CHC a shot ;)

Important thing to remember before you venture out bombing hills for the first time.
Hook up with someone with experience. We have regional groups in here so you can organise a day out. Safety is paramount so it's important to know how to stop safely before you go all out bombing and shredding.

i ride that alot mate, its my day to day deck which involves about a 1.5kms of rideing with some freeride sorta hills thrown in.

here is the deal on the omni, its one of the easiest boards to check slide that i have ridden, its got a tad bit of flex on it and the way its lowered+ 17 deg front wedge makes it a really nice board to freeride on, i run my one with randal 50's and its stable at speed and still nice and turny, powerballs are personal preference for freerideing the reflex thane isnt my thing so these are the go for me as they slide nice and well yet still have heaps of grip, also having ridden a vault and an omni, they are not alike, vaults feel shitty to me while i love my omni to death

As Fendy said, $500 is plenty to set you up. If you haven't already got one, get yourself a helmet before you get a board. also you'll find that safety is first priority amongst the longboarding community. we are all very serious about it, so buy your safety gear then spend the rest on your board then watch your life as you know it waste away into something much faster.

I will second what Sean said. I've got an Omni set up with Orangatang Durian’s 75mm, Gullwing Bombers, 90a venom DH bushings. At $160 it’s a sick board for DH/free ride and I will be racing it at Newton’s.

I would try as many boards as you can to see what you like and what you don't.

hey man I have been talking to one of the local skate shops and convinced them to stock Early skateboards so we will have him hooked up in no time flat.

come to the canberra sessions and try out a few boards to see what you like and dont.

yeh, it is a really shit board. my friend bought one, and i rode it. shittest board ever. My dervish can handle 40km, but the vault gets wobbles at 20km. not to mention it's shit turning. I personally would recommend a dervish. Good for everything. if you weigh around 70, get a flex 1, so you can do downhill as well as keeping the flex. They are great for sliding as well. If not, try a never summer heist. about the same performance, less price. they are both awesome boards. also, seeing as your not doing too much insane speed boarding, they would be perfect.

They claim its a speedboard, but its anything but. flexy, narrow platform, positive wedging and to top it all off badly shaped/made. Unfortunately for you you have already wasted your wheel money on that thing, but let me tell you you won't regret spending the extra money on a good complete from anyone of the benefactors to the right of this page.

I have the same wheels.
Theyre so cheap but once they're broken in enough you can pull some fairly good slides.

Do you guys reckon a Dervish would be good? I did some research and they look like an awesome all-round board.. What do you reckon?
