Homemade slide glove materials

Hi, im pretty new to longboarding and I need some slide gloves. I know how to make them, but what materials should I use? As in, Velcro v.s glue to stick pucks, manufactured or homemade pucks and types of gloves. Also, where might I get these materials from?

Velcro

home made (Plastic chopping board or any other UHMWPE you can find)

standard leather gardening gloves

Big W for everything

mate you mite aswell but some of these, istead of homemade gloves even  if  there made good arn't that reliable http://www.hopkin.com.au/sector-9-bhnc-slide-gloves.html there cheap reliable and your supporting a local shop

thanks, I also had a look at some sector 9 apex gloves, would they be better or worse?

yes there alright i just said secto 9 because you properly want cheap gloves but my favpurite gloves are the lush race gloves or the dark speed gloves there the best well i think enyway

Or you can make them your self for half the price... I used the same pair of home made gloves for over a year and never had any problems with them. One of the dudes I skate with used nothing but home made for the longest of times, I can't even tell you how long. If you make em' right they are great for learning in as you WILL thrash the shit out of them while you're learning. There's no point (in my opinion) to buying brand new gloves that you will destroy within your first year of skating especially when you can make something for half the price...

not, best gloves you can buy...

i would probably follow the advice of design engineering student and OG bomber james rann, I think he made my first set of gloves for like eight dollars, chopping board, garden gloves, double sided tape if your so strapped man, gloves are not going to ever really effect how you skate.

Here's some I prepared earlier...

Seriously, it isn't hard and you won't spend more than 20 bucks. If you're worried about the glue on the velcro (make sure you get the stuff with the glue on the back!) not being strong enough just heat the glue up for a minute or so by holding it in front of a heater or some junk and then press on it real hard for a while (I usually kneel on it). If you're worried about the glove coming off you can splash out and get some fancier gloves with a little bit of velcro around the wrist too. But for all intents and purposes some popes, a bit of velcro and a chopping board will do just fine.

No no no, no no, no no no no.

Don't use chopping board, it's the suckness. Just don't bother. Really. Don't bother. Been there, done that, not worth it.

The best pucks out there are Slippery Dips but if you're more cash strapped, skateboardexpress sell replacement pucks for their slide gloves for $15.

Gloves: get anything from your local hardware. $3 gardening gloves if you're totally povo or get leather gloves or rigger's gloves (much better). Get velcro sheet or strip and use "shoe glue" to stick it to the palm.

Bottom line: You don't need fancy gloves, but you DO want good (or at least decent) pucks.

I bought some free style motocross gloves from Ebay for $10, exactly the same as the S9 apex gloves that I had, bought some HEAVY DUTY velcro, cant say that loud enough, the better the velcro the better the pucks will stay on, even with crazy fast slides, no movement.

then make sure you stick that velcro on good and proper, I watched Adam Yates glove velcro rip off in front of me in a race and caused us both to crash.

yellow riggers (pope) gloves and the good velcro from bunnings and a set of slippery dip pucks from hopkins and your laughing mate
