Don't worry to much about losing a little bit of speed because you're not completely in full tuck toeside, the difference in your time will hardly be noticable. When you're learning try to focus more on the line you take through a corner, this is much more critical and will save you seconds not 10ths of seconds. Approach the corner wide look accross the apex untill you see your exit line then cut in aiming to come as close to the apex of the corner as possible.
You will have to shift your feet around the board a fair bit before and after a corner especially if it is quite sharp just get confident moving your back foot around the board at speed.
