ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

This is for all those wanting to hook up for a skate in the Newcastle area.

All are welcome, beginners through to pros, come have a sesh and help spread the stoke!
The crew is small but welcoming and wanting to expand.

the current regular session is:

wednesday nights 7:30pm meet at Charlestown Squares Myer carpark for some garage racing / shredding and then onto maquarie hills for some longer runs if people are keen.

The garage run is about 6 tight full spirals down into a tighter and steeper switch back at the bottom.

The Maquarie Hills run is just a 1km gentle sweeping hill max speed only being around 35km/h when not tucked, so its quite comfortable for newcomers.

Leave us a message if you want to meet up or have a new spot for us to session.

easy as man, we'll show ya how. you really need to learn at least how to slide to a stop. i can't believe i used to bomb hills without knowing how to stop... the first time i did one was when i was about to go through an interesection after bombing a big hill and still had way too much speed up, just 100% commited, did what i saw on the youtube vids and stinkbug slid to a stop... i was so stoked i managed to pull off a slide (and happy to be alive)
mind you there has been much progession since, lol.

mates dont let mates stinkbug! lol.
hahaha i started out grabbing stinkbug just because it was the first thing i found comfortable, i've stopped since though! and cheers! i learn shit so much quicker when i'm shown in person. i've bombed some pretty big hills, i attempted that 10km run from toronto hospital to dora creek but i gave up half way seeing it already took me so long to get home. whenever i need to stop i just put my gloves down in front of my board, push my board back and put 90% of my weight on my gloves and that stops me pretty quickly.
hahaha, Steven, I wouldn't recommend you try that at high speed :)
on my s9 board it is a pretty sketchy move it is a bit hard to keep myself stable. on my demonseed it works out pretty well but once i get my sliding in order i wont be doing it at all ;)
Sweet, another awesome day at murrays down, a few sacrifices made to the gods of asphalt by both Tom and I. Thanks to Benbro for making it up, really made my day mate.

And on with organising for the week ahead.
Wednesday night will be on again.
But I won't be able to make murrays next weekend cause I'll be in cairns sorry guys.
