ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Hey, I'm new to long boarding and I have a Loaded Dervish with Randal trucks and purple Stims. I was looking into something more stable for bombing hills but also better for sliding. I've heard the the Landyachtz Evo had good stability for downhill but also good for sliding because of the concave and the drop. I will be carving as well.

Whats the recommended set up for a board thats good for all thee things?

Thanks!

I'm with Sean, biased steering is good, but the Evo's 15/15 is too much. The old Glyde at 7/7 was a better design - made it easier to use the same trucks on the front and back.

But yeah, get a 9-5 or some other drop-through - good setup for just about everything.
i tired it. it worked mad. i first raced on an evo... none of that gay wedging shit. went hell good. loved it. when i first got the board i tried that wedging shit, felt terrible. never did it again. worst.setup.ever

your right michael, but who is going to run a 65 degree front truck for DH? i have tried it, it felt like shit, regardless of how low my back was, turning bias is dope, just not with a 65 degree front truck

evos are made to have hella front steer and minimal at the back... if u want even trucks, get a diff deck.

have a 35 front and back truck...

50 front and 20 back, hella stable

i had the dropspeed for a first speedboard and i learned to slide and bomb properly on it. i love that board and i want to buy another one

hey man if your not to serious with downhill and want a all round board thats good for everything i suggest getting something like a landyachtz 9 two 5 or a drop speed. i have a a 9 two 5 and love it. amazing slides, really nice and stable all round great board. (evo is more of a downhill board for racing and stuff not that fun for just rolling around on) hope this helps.

tim

Anyone know what the concave on the switch is like compared to the evo?

Evo is good, yes for bombing as such, it is also good to push, cause its so low to the ground.

The thing with it is that its not good for pumping or anything like that......suggestion would be to get a top-mount or drop thru, cause they are more fun to ride for what you want..

I have an Evo and love to ride it for DH and to pus around, but it is a bitch to slide...haha...and its heavy to carry up and down hills  all day......i now have a Rayne Avenger, and love it for everything, all i need to do is change to bushings for DH and freeride....

Good luck mate, and hope you find a good setup soon.

9two5, drop speed, vendetta, isis are all gread freeride boards that can do downhill

i have an isis and i find it an amazing allround board

i ride mine with bears at the moment, and zombies but im going to get some orange 4prez in the near future

no offense to evo's but if you want to carve/freeride while doing a bit of downhill the evo probably isn't the best deck to get

will, next time you come riding fitzy i will bring my evo for you to try out and see if you like the setup
count me in too.

check out melbourne sessions guys, we just post the info up like 5 hours before we start, you can even have a play with the setup

Seriously bro.

Downhill Randals, the 35 plates with 160mm hangers are made for the evo. Cheap and easy to get a hold of, the 160 hanger is the perfect size for the narrow foot space of an evo, plus 35 degrees will give you Incredible confidence at speed. I rolled on that exact setup for a long time and still can only find a couple of faults with it, perfect for beginner Downhilll / Race setup.

Thats what i suggest.

great ok thanks Sean.
