Kyle, check out the Sunshine State thread. There's guys downhilling in the Gold Coast, Brisbane and (I think) the Sunshine Coast - hook up with them and you'll learn all their tricks and bad habits!
hey man, i've got one bit of advice you need to take into consideration. DO NOT GET A VAULT DROPDOWN BOARD. they are not designed for DH, despite what it says on the site. i know a guy who got one for the same reason as u and he still prefers his pintail for the faster stuff. i'v ridden it and i can tell u that its absolute crap. because of the shape of the nose and tail, it is even unstable at speed than ur pintails. just because it says dropdown doesn't mean its a stable DH board. don't waste ur money. get a real DH board.
good to see ur stoked about skating tho.
i'll 2nd that...
those boards are definately NOT downhill boards.
the back truck is wedged positively making it more turny, and when your doing DH you want your back truck stable as hell coz thats where the wobs come from.
The platform is way to thin and it seriously cannot ever be described as a DH board...
Vault should definitely be ashamed of themselves...
cool thanks for the advice if anyone could pls suggest any good boards for a reasonable price pls do
:)
ok my weight is 75kg/ 174 cm high and got size 10/11 shoes
my bro's weight is 60kg and 168cm high and his shoe size is 9
price range would be below 500
thanks for the advice
dude you can easily get yourself a solid DH deck for under $350.
Hopkin Racing stocks a few Rayne decks, otherwise you'd be lookin at gettin a landyachtz board, possibly an evo.

Dregs makes a flush-cut board aswell thats a pretty cheap option as far as DH boards go and it would be awsome for starting out on
http://www.hopkin.com.au/rayne-hellcat-complete-pr-16357.html tgis one?http://www.landyachtz.com/D25.cfm?PID=127 or this
http://www.landyachtz.com/D25.cfm?PID=294 http://www.hopkin.com.au/rayne-nemesis-complete-pr-16331.html
just copy and paste the web adress. which one do u think will suit best?

Uber Deluxe Complete (EV-G1052-ABBZ)
Components: 184mm grizzly trucks, 75mm Abec11 Big Zigs, LY abec 7 bearinngs.

or
Krazy Super Deluxe (EV-G1052-AB97)
Components: 184mm grizzly trucks, 97mm Abec11 flywheels, LY abec 7 bearings.

which is better?
i wouldnt get a carbon evo to start out on.. the wood one will do you fine. evo is heavy but thats the only downfall i love mine to bits. havnt ridden the nemesis or hellcat enough to provide you with enough info sorry
Uber Deluxe. Don't get wheels that big for DH. Not as good as you think. Also if ur buying from overseas (which i wouldn't recommend at the moment cos of the exchange rate), don't buy directly from Landyachtz.
Heres my top 4 international longboard stores:
http://www.thelongboardstore.com/
http://www.stokedskateboards.com/index.html
http://www.daddiesboardshop.com/index.aspx
http://www.purpleskunk.com/
If you really want Landyachtz, check out this aussie store - http://www.boardshop.com.au/servlet/the-SLALOM-fdsh-SPEED-dsh-DECKS...
Aussie prices may seem a lot more expensive than international prices, but when you add on the shipping cost (about $100 for a complete) and the terrible exchange rate at the moment, you'll find it works out around the same price. only it takes a day to turn up on ur doorstep rather than 3 or 4 weeks.
got any good aus ones?
ok we have found the evo boards on the aus website, but it only comes as a deck.
so could anyone pls recomend wat size wheels and truck set up.
is this any good as well
