Phill C said:Yeah just do what ben said! The easiest for you to make at school would be along the lines of a Rogers Bros 'Perimeter style luge'. you will need a pipe bender though, able to weld the pan and frame, and alot of cash coz theres no way in hell they'll have aluminium plate (preferably 5083) thick enough lying around at school to make a pan. The pan alone 4- 5mm thick (for a Rog Bros style pan) would cost about $50 to $100. Other styles you could try building is a Pan style (just a plate pan with two heads bolted either end to support the trucks) but you need to bend the pan. Or a rail which would be the strongest on a budget (the rail is like a spine that runs under the pan). that way you can use thinner plate for the pan.
Look also at Chris Mcbrides website for loads of pics and ideas. If you look on the forum street-luge.com there is a Gravity vehicle showcase where you'll see some weird ideas that people have built themselves mostly out of junk and some really good luges too.
I know you said no isis but if it all falls through I have one with Munkaes...
