its down to your style of riding, first time i skated keira anton was bombing it on a hustler so it can be used for a bit of downhill, but as blackwood said it ain't no speedboard. if you live near sydney why don't you tag along to a bombsquad session and check them both out and decide for yourself?
im in wollongong so i don't make it out to them but i have been meaning to for ages, join them here: http://www.skateboardracing.org.au/group/sydneycitybombsquad
Ha ha Yes very good drugs give me some and i will take one of the Tomatoes to.

hustler for DH? are you guys on drugs? they weigh nothing, flex like a bitch and are prone to cracking with early grabs and jumps. great board though dont get me wrong, its light and great to bomb and slash on but i think the dervish has a bit more structural integrity and handles being thrown around and abused a bit better. neither is a speedboard.
Tomatoes/ Tomatoes.
hey guys i know this is a pretty old forum but i bought a dervish last year with graphic 1 havent really riden it a whole lot but decided that i need to save this puppy as it will be part of a longboard history one day. so then decided to look for another board and rayne had one of those boxing day sale that sells factory second boards. read a lot about the hustler in comparison with the dervish so decided to get one for about 75 BUX. when i got the hustler i didnt expect it to be as thin as my sector 9 and as flexy as a flex 2 dervish. so i wondered how something this thin and flexy can go downhill. i had alot of doubts with this board and regretted ever buying it, until i got on and started skating. this board was pretty good, set up was randal's 180 with purple in heats. i could never do a proper slide when i was riding the dervish with the same set up, may be it was because it was a flex 1. but the hustlers was really good first push and your sliding. took out for a garage session n it was even better. i will not recommend this as a downhill because it will wobble you to death (thats probably my fault as i have a very loose trucks). even still, the hustler is very fragile. i researched on how to protect the nose just in case i do hit a curb while going down hill and the nose is pointy, and read that it does crack pretty easily and some even break. my hustler now sorta has a small crack and i dont want it get any worst. okay so thats the story of my life.....lol mah bad....neways long story short the hustler is an awesome board really love it and might even love it more than my dervish. but having said that if you are thinking of buying one be prepared to take care of it like a baby just in case you do run into something very hard and there goes 200 bux down the drain. loaded dervish is the way to go for any beginners who are getting into longboarding. you can trash it, smack it to a wall at high speeds, use as firewood and still will not break.
most boards tend to break if you smash them into a curb at high speeds... no matter who made them
GO RAYNE...
my friend abuses his hustler to hell, chucks it around, big bonelesses, curbs, rides it down stairs etc etc. nose is abit mashed, no cracks its jsut a tiny bit flexier than it used to be, no stress fractures or anything like that. VERY durable board...
this man knows of what he speaks. get the dervish. i may be byist cause i own one but they still rock. and someone made the point you can sell it if u dont like it.

Listen to Carnie, he is the grand poobah of Bomb Squad.
Hustler is lighter, Has more nose and tail to kick on. Heap fun to commute on, slash, pump everywhere on it. You can bomb hills, carparks. But it aint no downhill board. You can not take that puppy up too fast it will throw you around with the flex. Hustler is a good looking chick, a fast car which is nice to drive but can be impractical. It's the deck you mum does not want to skate ... there are so many other nice girls out there.
Dervish is all substance. The homely shy girl that will treat you right. Built to last. Nice flex.Practical. Symetrical so you can get confused about which is front and back. Graphic has a man dress on it. Everything about it is right, built perfectly. But sometimes you feel a little unsatisified. It is the safe choice. You can not go wrong because there are plenty of kids that will buy it off you if you dont like it.
Hustler fo sho'.
