Who is interested in this form of skating.?
What is the furthest you have skated in one session.?
What is your setup for distance skateing.?
Do you push or pump.?
My best efort sofar is 50km on a sector9 trilam 180randals 73mm75a siesmics.
It took 3hrs half headwind half tailwind 80%pumping 20%pushing.

In my opinion bigger heavy stiff lowerd boards eg:demondseed
wheels bigger 75mm <100mm duro>80a vibration is the enemy
trucks loose slightly tighter on rear for pumping drive.
My sector9trilam is faster to pump but harder to push becouse of topmount and convex boardshape.
Beware distance skating is very adictive and rewording.

just wondering, what are the ultimate specs for a push board/ long distance board?
wheels: big or small, soft or hard?
deck: flexy or stiff, heavy or light, long or short, high platform or dropped platform?
trucks: loose or tight, big or small?
dylan - ride what you're comfortable on.
a low deck for the push factor is rad.
big wheels for momentum.
trucks - up to you.
deck, light but strong.
definitely a long board that maintains speed well...
So jealous, all our bike tracks are concrete clickety clack. I'm in for whatever...
yeah.... me hates clickity clackity bike trails! I much rather take the smaller roads and zig zag back to city..
Sounds rad Dylan
Let me know how the scooter wheels go you could be on to something there.
If it dosent hurt you haven't skated far enough.

so what are your thoughts to:

paris 150s
big ass scooter wheels (110mm+)
landy spud

im getting a spud soon and this is what im probs gonna get on it
50 miles = 80km, Seattle to Redmond and back along a bike trail for one of James Peters' Ultraskates, pushing the whole way using one leg. Took 6 hours (with the odd break), just loaded my pockets up with packets of gummi bears and off I went, filled my water bottle at various parks along the way. I could barely walk for a week after ;-)

Setup was a Rayne Timeline with 149mm trackers and lime zigzags. A couple of months before I did 25 miles on my Loaded Pintail flex-4 but the flexiness of it drove me crazy.
I'd reckon a medium-large size wheel with plenty of rebound (i.e. fast). Not so big that you're way off the ground. A light deck with a very slight flex -- enough to absorb bumps in the road so you don't wear out your ankles quickly, but not so much that you're bouncing up and down as you push.
trucks: whatever fits the board, have bushings with decent rebound and maybe tighten them a bit. probably different for everyone, and the deck you choose is probably a bigger factor in making it easier.

i'd be down for trying the M7 one day, but does it have water fountains along it?
been bashing the idea around with sydney downhill crew about doing a charity ride long distance raising longboard skate awearness and sponsering ball cancer or goofy footed skaters. who knows how to organise this sort of race-ride. so we get publisity and have fun at the same time.
Cool Rob i am going to try something along those lines in Melbourne on eastlink or baytrail so if I get any usefull info I will pass it on goodluck and "skatefurther"
at the moment I have no info.
Hi all just completed my beach trail skate of 50km
from beaumaris to westgate bridge and back.
I rode my rayne timeline holey trucks and 65mm 81a alligators.
Head wind on the way back witch is when it's 98% pushing.
With small wheels and a light deck it was a realy hard push!
But I reckon it would be a awsome gs setup.
So I think long distance pushing requires a heavy low deck with big wheels once it's up to speed it's easyer to keep moving head wind or not.
i have bennett 5.0s on my timeline and its pretty good for pumping (i haven't done any huge distances though). the galac site also recommends them (bennetts, not the timeline) and has heaps of info if no one has recommended that yet.
