isn't the track uber grippy though??
i heard the surface at newtons is really grippy, due to the rubber laid down by the cars that race there so it might be a bit sketchy trying to drift, you could try it, but I reckon only do it if you have complete faith in your ability to keep the drift in control or you might take out other riders behind you and they probably won't be too happy about that.
do you reakon trying a set of otang or retro free rides on this track could be some fun then? grip from the road + slide from your wheels =?? fun times maybe?

in practice will tell the story...but i think come race time if at all, it would just be a little check, coz its not hard to wash off to much and the rest of the guys will just go railin it fast straight past you...leave the freerides at home, your gunna need traction at speed, freerides are sketch with high speed drifting..,good for learning at slow speeds, but you wanna hook up not endlessly slide...it wont be the surface that stops the top guys checking, it will be that checking is not needed...youve gotta be goin balls out for pre-drifts to be needed,.......its good to see that sideways style of riding but remember it is a race and noone wants to have to slow down and have the guy behind go flyin straight past........ive never ridden the hill but this is what i can make of it....my two cents...i could be wrong
only one way to find out isnt there...
big80 it
I agree with benbro here, I don't think this track requires you to predrift, if you watch videos of last year, ppl just airbrake coming into the dipper and then just railed it down into forest elbow if you can find the right line. I'll be sticking with square lipped edges for my wheels.

you might pre-drift in practice just for fun but nobody is gonna do it in the race, in all likelihood you will be overtaken or worse disqualified for taking a rider out
The key is going to be getting on to conrod as fast as you can but with no one on your tail. If someone is sucking on your draught you are going to be toast.
I can see some pre-drifting if you are behind the pack, making sure you are sticking in tight with the leaders. If you hit forest too fast behind the leaders, your only option is inside or outside. Both high percentage for error.

As Erik said in the video - "you make it out of that corner (forest) with a lot of speed, it is so much fun "

We have the BRC video on our front page - Hopkin Racing - a lot of good camera angles of the racing.
this sounds like the best idea. pricey though...

Actually looking at the standup finals I saw everyone footbraked, but not as much as the street lugers. Erik footbraked and airbraked before railing it at speed. So did Scoot.
