You want to get the bottom of the luge as low as possible so it will depend on the thickness of the channel you are using and what trucks you are using too. Send me some sketches of what you are building and i'll take a look. Aim for a wheelbase of around 110-120mm and put the front truck as close to your ass as possible.
Yeah, everyone seems pretty hazy about this weekend. Looks like every man for himself ATM. Maybe every1 will go BHC rd next week, or maybe this new place, if it's promising.
Yeah bro, i left a request. If I don't see you on the weekend, hope the run goes well and it's not too hot. Skated west beach last night and the halfpipe was still too hot to touch even after 9. End of the world type weather much?
Hey fella, it's Elliot. We skated together EOTH a while back. I work with Matty and Des (My dad). Hows life? gonna come up to brown hill creek with us sometime?
for GS i would say the randals, the bennetts are really turny, and by that i mean REALLY turny... and a bit of a bitch to set up properly. the standard bottom bushings is alot taller than any normal bushing, so if you want to replace it you have to get specially made bushings, or put two conical bushings in (like an hourglass) or just put in a bunch of washers to fill in the gaps...
i would suggest going out to do some slalom practice first before trying to race slalom, its really easy and will make things alot more fun for when you come to townsville. go grab a bunch of cheap flower pots from bunnings and some chalk and go mark out a course with 7ft straight cones and 10ft offsets along a nice and mellow hill, and keep tweaking the course so you get it perfect, then make the cones tighter and tighter and go faster and faster
there is no 'standard' width for slalom trucks, it all depends on your preference and how much controll you have. if your going to do the SGS i would probs say go for some randal 125s or 150s coz thats something you might be used to, but have the back truck alot less turnier than your front to give you stability and less chance of sliding out. what board are you thinking of using for the SGS?
some dudes like to use standard tracker RTs/x trucks with tight bushings for giant slalom, some dudes like to use fully-hectic-bro-$600-GOG-trucks on their setup, it all depends on your style. have you done much slalom before? or even at all?
I know what you meant Nick, Its cool dude, I was just being a smart arse ( something that I'm sure is in my dna, I just can't help myself ) But I understand totally where your coming from. My mate Karl has always pushed me, and I hope I have pushed him. Skating and snowboarding from around the age of 10 until and still now ( i'm 32 ) its great and helps you learn and push the boundaries
Hey I copied your instructions for a visor on the bell drop. Sweet as man!
Yea man im so stoked to skate, espeecially after M.O.T.H. Mary hill will be siiiiiick! Im gonna go for the race, it will be good practice for Bathurst (not to mention the potential points) and I reckon more Aussies will be there for the race and I dont wanna go it alone. I hate flying man, airports make me really nervouse. Id rather fly with people, especially if they have done the trip before. Should be up in 3 or 4 weeks to roll in Adelaide.
Hey dude, at this stage dont think Im gonna be at Beat The Bastard. I've decided to attend MaryHill this yearwhich means I have to put about $250 a week aside plus I wanna get to Adelaide a bit more often to roll with you guys so it's all gonna chew up my money a bit. Russ is keen to go though I think, have a chat with him.
hey dude, shall talk to you more bout it on sunday, but i see you're interesting in the beat the bastard ride? im hell keen to go up as well but dont know if id have the balls to skate..
