Newton's Playground Announces $10,000 Purse

The Australian Skateboard Racing Association and Newton's Playground event organizers are happy to announce a prize purse of $10,200 for this years event. We have moved heaven and earth to lift this years prize money to reflect the growth in participation and professionalism of our sport in Australia and around the world. We think this is reflected in the level of riding we are now seeing and hope this creates a benchmark of reward for all the athletes that are about to compete for the IGSA World Championships.

Demon,
The budget for Newton's is a major event budget that is separate from ASRA's. Budgets for future major events will also be separate from the main ASRA budget. Benefits to ASRA come from our ability to leverage these events in other ways. There are many elements that come together to make a major international and professional event. Unfortunately this is not the Olympics so there are other aspects that reflect on how this event is seen by the riders, the public, and the media.

thanks for the reply Robbo. No doubt a big, well publicised event will also bring interest to the sport which hopefully will help it grow and lead to more races next year.
Thanks for all your efforts on making this happen again, I'll chip in for the organisers beer fund
