I can chime in here,
I ate it going down a mellow hill on my freebord (highsided myself which happens a lot freebording).
I had a helmet in the car and didnt wear it (not cool looking, big and bulky, etc)
I ended up in hospital with one of these

It was acute and apparently I was a 1 in 100,000 chance of being very fucking lucky that I didnt die.
If I wore a helmet I would definitely would be fine. I don't like my chances next time so helmet is always a good idea...

Cool beans. Show them some gnar photos on the internet and that will speed up their decision.
A helmet has saved my life on several occasions, most of which were when i have been chilling and not paying attention.

If i see you out skating and you have a lid on, i'll more than likely chill and skate with you... If you don't, i'll probably call you a kook and tell you to go home. I'm sure you you can see most of the comunity feels the same way.
