if you want complete then 300 isnt really gonna do you much unless you fish around the marketplace for an evo complete but they arent very good for much else than downhill so maybe save up a bit till you get about 500 then buy a good deck like an isis and maybe some bears or randals and then get some orangatang 4pres or landyachtz zombie hawgs and bones reds bearing
something from the sector 9 platnum series like the super shaka could be what your after, i dont think anyone in aus has them, if you get one direct off s9 then it might come in under 300 shipped with the strong aussie dollar
Early longboards, they're Australian and pretty darn good for $300 a complete

I'd suggest the arift if you want to slide around and freeride more or the bomb if you want more of a downhill board.
you can get a good setup for 300 you just gotta know were to look. comet make some great boards for under 300 shiped, i personaly love my FSM its great for crusing and freeriding, however if you looking to do any seirious downhill there are heeps of downhill boards. just takes a couple weeks for overseas postage.

Thanks for all the input guys.. but like im only getting a longboard because all of my mates have them and i was thinking of making the transition from just normal street skating to longboarding.. All we are probably going to do is cruise along the strand (townsville) or the city.. But i wouldnt mind having something for Down hill to if i get into it.. Any suggestions on Sector 9 boards that can offer that or landyaghtz? Is the Sector 9 greenroom anygood for that? or maybe a landyaghtz battle axe? i really dont have a clue what to get ...
Try the comet FSM, its nice and low so its good for cruising and it has rocker which I find comfortable for pushing. Its also amazing for freeride, but you can still dh on it. If you think you might get into some more serious downhill later try the voodoo doll or voodoo.
And its cheap too!

well sector nines really arent as good as the other boards, cheap glue, cheap wood. i wouldnt be suprised if it snapped over a tiny little rock in the road, but the fsm and early boards are great

I would say if your keen on a S9, then either the lacey, super shaka or carbon decline
But apart from that id say the comet

Are you serious toby? Sector 9 make great boards, just not the cruiser ones
the new race division boards i would say are just as good as any other brand
If any of them would break, it would maybe be the comet. because they use environmently friendly wood/glue which apparently breaks easier
plus, Jacko is sponsored by them and rides their boards....
