ASRA - Australian Skateboard Racing Association

Currently running a 4.3 bennett at 7* with khiro bushings orange/blue road, white+orange board. Looking for something different for when I get a real slalom board.

I'm leaning towards reflex though any bushing suggestions are fine. I'm thinking of a 77a road and 80a board what do people think?

Also in the back I'll be running a 88a elim board and 86a shr road on a 35 randal wedged to 28 at the moment I'm not sure whether I like the back to be rock hard or just very stiff. How will this setup feel (currently I have the stock randal bushings)?

I weigh 59kg

Cheers

@Marek That has also been tried but according to users the results are poor- the shrink gets shredded quickly. The plastic tubing also has issues with stretching the bushings apparently making them act stiffer- this is of course with un-modified bushings. Overall the kingpin mod seemed the easier than the other options.

Though whilst I have your attention do you guys know where to get sphericals from? I'm loving this bennett mod where the spherical is added to the hanger (I would do the baseplate too but that's way too complicated). Would have to get a dremel to pull it off but if I did what's an easy way to hold the spherical in place? Many modders have welded the thing in but I'd rather use some kind of putty or adhesive to do the trick (I have access to an arc welder but noobs like me best stay away...) - any thoughts on what's feasible?

The way i usually do it is on page 10. I havnt done hangers as they ride a bit cluncky for me.

Oh wow that seems way complicated but you have caught my attention. I'm looking at the randal mod without power tools that is impressive. Though this is the reason I'd rather try the hanger mod this is so complicated for someone unexperienced!

Firstly I would need:

19od 10id spherical

Ball joint for the hanger (bunnings I'm guessing?)

TB8 bearings (no idea where to get these)

Carbi tool router bit T504B

Access to a drill press and equipment to clamp and level the pivot cup

Some form of metal work experience.

I think doing this myself could become very expensive in terms of destroyed trucks and having to buy the bit. Is the spherical a 19x10x9 spherical (thats what they have on VXB) and would that accept a king pin.

Out of curiosity do you modify trucks and for what price?

Replaced the kingpin today (well Robbo did it). Only problem is the length of the kingpin. I bought a 3 inch as recommended but Robbo said it would be folly to try and cut a grade 8 one. Thus I have swapped for a 2.5 one and pointed it into the truck (so I flipped the kingpin to stop the thread chewing up the bushings). Any suggestions on what kind of putty would be suitable to pack the bottom to stop the king pin from rotating freely?

shoe goo?

I personally would have the kpin through the baseplate in the traditional way,

you can get a 2 pack like pratley putty and plug/build up the under side of the baseplate

so the hex head doesnt spin.

I spoke to Kurt from HEELSIDE mag this morning and will do a simple "How To" next issue

i am a fairly light guy and run white khiro bitch's front with a 90a venom SHR and a khiro insert short cone (purple) on the back of my trackers and it feels perfect for my weight and setup, white khiro's are a fantastic front bushing if you ask me, i did try pink reflex cones but couldnt get enough response outta them being fairly light

Hey bear, can you give a but more detail on the bearings you used? Do they need to be stainless? How do you manage all the crap that will get in them?
