have a look at sk8kings man theres some descent starter slalom boards there
Or Pocket Pistol
Ian, I'd recommend any of the Skaterbuilt or Sk8kings Axe decks, with a wheelbase of about 20-21". Get a Tracker RTS for the back truck and a Bennett Vector for the front truck, and some 70mm 80a slalom wheels. Probably cost you around $300 brand new.

It's always good to ride a bunch of other people's setups first to see what you like, but you can't go wrong with my advice above. Your Hustler won't work for slalom - too long.
sweet thanks bugs, i'll buy robbo's board then buy a slalom board, quickly.. so muct hustler wont work at kincumber then aye

hustler be ok in the ditch races....
Yep, Hustler will be about perfect for Kincumber.
Hustler is a sick ditch board, perfect,
rossco one of the cross lads had an omni drop set up for slalom the other night, was shredding!
funniest thing ever!
If moneys short, you can very successfully cut down a kickflipping or pool board, they usually have nice concave and a kick to lock the back foot in. Just need to cut down the front nose a little and redrill some truck mount holes. Then you just need trucks and wheels and can upgrade the board later. Lots of very fast riders on boards like these. Effective, cheap and fun!
last year Imi was absolutely smashing the rest of us 'slow to medium paced' guys on one of these home made cut down boards and Paul Carey was riding a cut down 'new school' deck for ages and absolutely killin' it.

put your $ into a front slalom truck..preferrably with a spherical bearing set up and wheels if you want real bang for you're buck....upgrade the deck later

I have a skatekings axe with tracker tucks and zigzags in excellent condition that I'm looking to sell. pm me if your interested

I had a good time cutting down an old pool board and making wedges. Just keep changing specs when your happy find a board close to what you built. Sk8kings seem to be good and have an affordable range. Danny
