I would be more concerned with the footbrake going into the dipper or Forest Elbow. You will be traveling fast into the elbow, about 80kmh, so being reasonably comfortable with a footbrake is definitely a plus. Although there are guys of course who don't footbrake at all... and you are right, throwing down pendulums if there are people behind you is a definite no no.
Just wondering about those guys that dont footbrake... would an airbrake suffice for them in bleeding off the speed necessary to take forest elbow? Or do they pre-drift? Also, speed control is necessary for the dipper, or can you take it flat out?
There are two crash spots - the Dipper and Forest. Last year in practice there were heaps of crashes at both, although as the weekend went on there were less crashes at the Dipper as people started to figure it out.
The fastest guys are probably gonna get by with virtually no braking of any kind. But for your first few times down the hill you're gonna need some type of braking. A shload of airbraking might be enough. Good luck.
Imagine if everyone decided they were gonna do a Bradbury on the same run ...
