hey man,
im no gun but wat u can "try" is carving into it and do like a really big carve then kick it out and lean back.. itll be better falling on your back then catching and going over the front..
just practice this mmotion and then 1nce uve got thwe hang of that you can try bringing them back..
hope this a help to you..
cya later
also wat wheels are you on at the moment
im on bigzigs
all u need is time man. just go n ride your board and it will happen as you get the feel for it. the more skating you do the quicker u learn
are the big zigs worn in enough ?
Jacko is exactly right. you can't really learn enough over the net to help you understand how its done. tips and videos only become helpful when you've figured it out and just want to refine those skills. sliding is difficult like that.
less grippy wheels make it easier and remember to have your trucks nice and loose with plenty of rebound.
yeah but if i make my trucks heaps loose then they will suck for bomibng??
i found it easier to learn if i just did a huge carve and slid as much as i could. even if i fell off or couldnt regain balance it helped me learn what i needed to do to sldie. now i can 180 :)
learn to draw lines, carve and style it up before you learn to slide. otherwise your sliding will have no style at all and will look shit
i agree with Jacko, draw out some good lines carving, find the spot when my wheels start to let go. I also found a lot was through the knees, knees bent and then carve into it, pop up or take the weight of your weels at the point when they let go, hold and when you want to bring it back squat back down. look to where you wan to go even if its small checks.
only tip that i can give you is dont look down at your board while your doing it, firstly if your feet are in a good posi they wont move much, secondly if you do look down your head follows your eyes your shoulders follow you head and then you board catches up and all you wieght is so far over you board that you will fall off, so as I said look forward not down.
get some really really crappy wheels that don't grip.

bomb a garage at speed. the sharp corners (most garages have 90* turns) will make you slide if you go too fast on the "wrong" line. i suppose this works best if your garage has right handed turns and you're goofy (or vice versa of course)

pluses:
garages have slippery surface relative to roads and if you're already turning, its easy to push out that little bit and check slide a little. (same idea with the carving)

thats how i learnt to checkslide (involuntarily as first) and hate vault.
