Need some help with truck choice!!
Hi guys,
I'm in the process of looking for a new set of downhill trucks for a lowered, drop through deck.
Currently i've got a set of Randal DH 160mm trucks. I like the feel and all, just a wee bit too narrow in my opinion.
I'm looking at getting a bog-standard set, non of these flash precision trucks like you guys have hahah. Something like Tracker Fast-tracks or a set of Paris.
Can any one give me some opinions on how these truck would go on a pure DH set-up or even give me some other brands with-in a $100 a set mark.

I have them on a drop deck also and I think they shape up pretty well, they have good stability and you can flip the hangar... one problem is the bushing it comes with, that shouldnt hold u back by any means though

i run 852 bears and they are good when new but my axels bent a bit and now they feel sketchy and pull to the right so im going to get bear 1040s so they dont bend and are a bit better at speed.

only problem with those 1040's is the 10mm axle... Found a great standard ceramic for 8mm and i'm keen to stick with them. If the axles are a problem, then i might pull towards a tracker or something.

Given that you already have 160 DH randals stay with randals. This will expand your options because you can interchange hangers. Get yourself a set of 180 with R2-50deg plates. That way you can put a DH35 plate on the rear and a R2-50 plate on the front with 180 hangers front and back. You can keep the 160 hangers for your cruiser/ flatland surfer. They go good as a ditch truck with the same 50/35 baseplate setup.
Randal don't fit bear or tracker.
Randals can do almost anything you want with the right bushing combo. That's where all the difference is.

what exactly is up with the busshing in them, just a swap out and it will be fine or something a bit more than that??? The help is greatly appreciated

all that is needed is to buy some more bushings and swap them around, its just that the pumpkins they supply are a bit dodgy. if you get 1040's you, if i remeber correctly, have to purchase 10mm bearings which can get expensive

okie dokie then.... if i do go down that truck path i'll log that in the memory bank.
yeah that's another reason i want to stick with 8mm bearings, getting 10mm is quite dear.

its probably more because i abuse them... they just feel like they can do anything... so thats what i do haha

Cheers Fitz, Ado from Cr8ive gave me a brief description of that whole concept, now i'm with it hahah.
Like i said when i first started this thread, i really do like the feel of the Randals. Just the whole DH 160mm hanger thing was putting me off of them. Just too narrow.
That's probably the best option as well, cost wise. If you have any more suggestions on trucks as well that would be great, thanks again man.

Does anyone know why they make the randal Dh truck 160mm? Randals are really good trucks and because they are slightly cheaper you can afford to try a few more bushings out and/or get new baseplates.
