just wondering if anyone here could modify cast trucks such as paris to have sphericals? Karrot on SF does this but i don't think shipping to Hawaii would be very practical. Would be cool if anyone could do this here in oz

Yeah bears right. I did the R1 hangers with ball ends and machined the bush seat to take anything up to JimZ size.
Takes alot of time to do it which I don't really have and isn't cost effective enough to justify doing a batch. I can only do the serious stuff at work after hrs. I don't have the milling machines at home.

I'd still like to do it though, because I liked what OSR did with Bennets. Spherical hanger and pivot. The're such a good truck even as stock.
I've got one on the shelf ready to mod with bearings, on the never ending list of things to do! Once I proto one up I'll get a quote for a batch and get them made. Don't hold your breath waiting for one soon though.
if your looking for a more 'stable' downhill truck adding a spherical bearing to a paris hanger isnt going to do much...
im just curious as to what sphericals feel like. The paris trucks are serving me fine for dh at the moment.
it really depends on the truck, and the bushing seat. ive found that in DH trucks, beefy hangers with deep bushing seats (like the kahas and kookies and such) allow a really deep turn and carve feel, but still have the stability because of the off-set axles, where as trucks like the jimzs and smokeys have the spericals in them, but dont have big bushing seats because of the sphericals. That keeps everything nice and in-line and gets rid of the slop.
Now i think (this is just me going on a random tangent) that if you were to put a spherical bearing into a truck with a deep bushing seat (like the paris trucks, or even CNCs) it would not do much, and if anything make the truck less responsive. The truck was designed to work without them and thats why they have such a deep seat, for the bushings to do the work in making the truck come alive.
