Knee/Elbow pads - best brands?
i really need to buy some knee and elbow pads because i don't have any at the moment, only got into longboarding semi seriously lately and i've been told that i definitely need to buy some pads.
so what are the best quality brands? i dont have a huge amount of money but i'd gladly invest into good protection.

early pads are rad and made by an aussie company, otherwise 187s are also good

early pads are good, but they dont stay up very well, but they cheap!... i havent tried the other brands so i cant say anything about them

187s. Protec suck, avoid them (knees atleast). They will drag down and tear your knee. 187s are a little more pricey but will last twice as long and actually protect your knees. Dunno about Early pads, they look rad though!

my early pads have saved me heaps but have dragged down a couple of times and cut my knees up pretty bad when i really needed them

Protec have saved my knee many times, I haven't tried any other pads recently
I have been told if you wan't something to protect you when your chilling then the double downs are good for wearing under your clothes, they wont protect your clothes and will slip but they are good protection from the initial impact, they make you learn to keep your knees and elbows off the ground

187s look a bit sturdier then earlys. I'm talking about 187 flys. But earlys look cool with all the black and white stripiness.
My 187 flys are great though.
I wouldn't bother getting elbow pads personally. I've never used mine.

Hopkin do a pretty good deal on 187 fly elbow and knee pack, once you wear out the caps on the knees you can grid the rivets off stick some velcro on them and then the replaceable caps off the 187 pro's can go on.

i have some pro tec street knee and elbow pads..they are great. they aren't too bulky but give you heaps of protection against impact. also, i have had countless stacks in them and the caps last very long. they dont shift easily and the velcro on them lasts a long time. the only downside of them is that you cant really replace the caps, but if you really want to, u can grind off the rivets and stick on some sort of replaceable cap with velcro. pro tec pads are a great investment and dont cost too much. also, they are very comfortable and will not slip or move on your legs/ elbow.
